I’ve always managed to reach the final phase but never actually beaten him. after dying 50+ times soloing him, I joined randos. As usual, there were no communication and everyone fumbled trying to get a read on this monsters moveset. I main lance, and i thought I was okay as a lance player. But I was wrong. Fatalis demands every ounce of your skill and a deep understanding of your weapon in order to slay him. In a short amount of time fighting him, i managed to “git gud” but it wasn’t enough. after nearly a week plus, i casually joined a team of randos to have a shot at him again. there were an SnS main, SA main, LS main and me, a lance main. I went into the quest without much expectation. But as we fought him, I realised it wasn't as difficult anymore, I was aiming the legs and body, SA aiming the head, SnS was healing and LS was doing overall damage. This was a synergy I never thought I can get from playing with randos. This ballet of destruction brought us to the final phase easy. As Fatalis went mental, SA managed to break his head, so his fire damage decreased, Sns kept flinching him with dragon pods before he can unleash his major attacks. Then we release the dragonator on him. Then this songs starts. After so many tries i never managed to reach this song. Hearing it gave me newfound confidence and hope of beating it just this one time. I just needed this ONE win. All of us were pumped up and we were beating the hell outta him. Then he fell. My heart was still racing, hands trembling. we did it. Without even one faint. To all the randos that helped me beat Extreme Behemoth, Alatreon and Fatalis, you guys are the real heroes. It’s been a hell of a ride. See you in MH:Rise. Sorry for the long post.

No need to apologise. A hunter recalling a great hunt is a thing I love about this fandom. So many hunt and stories. Some hunts a routine and simple, but others... They're the tellings of a legend. Personally I've left my own tales across the web for others to read.

I though for sure at parts we were screwed, but we were like a perfect team.

The best part of this is that in this last phase, Fatalis isn't determined and willing to kill you as it was before. Fatalis isn't mad, it's straight up desperate, trying with all the strength it has left to get rid of the same hunter that less than an hour ago it considered simply an annoying pest. This is the first time Fatalis feels something it probably never thought it was gonna experience: Fear

Fatalis most likely isn’t fearful, he most likely is motivated to finish it no matter the cost more like. Fatalis are never scared is the thing although they can be motivated. The final stretch is basically the most motivated the Fatalis can be vs you as a Hunter being the most motivated as can be.

elder dragons may not be scared, but they still have enough brain power to realise the threat and retreat fatalis could fly away but he would just get chased down,he's not valstrax to be able to get away. He is enraged because you can clearly hear how painful it is for him to roar and use his fire chest thing. he probably is a bit afraid as well, considering when he pins you he doesnt think that finishing you off on his chest is a good idea, since his heart is there.he only realises it after some time.no wonder-fata is probably very confused why the fuck some cockroaches are staying alive for so long, and do so much damage to him

Stole a comment from the mh:w reddit because I couldn't have put it better: "I can't think of a time ever in all of the games I've played where a song has raised my spirit as much as hearing that song at the end of my first Fatalis clear. After having such a hard fight, so many narrow dodges and barely scraping by I felt exhausted. Then the song starts and you know... you're a badass, you're the hero of this story. For me it instantly turns the fight from trying to survive to seeing just how much of a beating you can lay on this overgrown lizard, going from hunted to hunter and it's one of the most awesome feelings you can get from a video game. What an amazing way to end Monster Hunter World."

Recently got back to Iceborne (around late January). I never got to fully play the end game when it released back then. Went back to play a bit with friends to fight raging brachy and safi. That was during covid times. Fast forward to yesterday March 10, 2024 I finally beat Fatalis after spending a week grinding the fight and then ending it with an 8-hour grind fest. Going in I know that there’s a dragonator and that it’s possible to only half hit it (1 spike) so I figure best way to maximize it is to put him to sleep when he’s right in front of it. I never really got the chance to do that because I either fail too early or I’m always out of position until I got to my winning run. I knew that proof of a hero will play towards the end of the fight but I didn’t know that the dragonator triggers it. When the opportunity came, I put him to sleep. Pressed the dragonator and then the music starts. When I heard it I felt so hyped I felt invincible and nothing would hit me. He does his 5th? and final nova, I run towards safety, popped a max potion for good measure, fought him for 2 more minutes or so then I hear the sweet sweet words of the commander saying Incredible! As I hit Fatalis one last time. Gaining my Proof of a Hero. Best fight ever. The Euphoria I felt after is something every hunter should experience at least once. Happy 20th Anniversary Monster Hunter!

I don't remember why I pick us Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, but I'm glad I did. I remember spending my entire summer playing it with people online and having fun meeting new people and learning how to hunt and them teaching me how to hunt. To think years later I'd be playing this same game series and have some of my favorite moments in gaming from it. I was able to beat Fatalis on my own. A monster so grand and destructive got beaten by a guy who could barely kill a Great Jaggi. I kept playing and now. I experienced a boss which felt like a grand finale to this beautiful game.

I walked into Monster Hunter completely blind and not knowing what was in store for me. Freedom Unite was the clincher, but along came Portable 3rd (which, of course the English patch one), which made Monster Hunter more and more intriguing. And then I started playing World. And I hate to say something that might sound like I'm flexing, but I embarked on this journey with my sister coming in to help me ocassionally. And I caught on to Iceborne way late than the rest of you guys so that one fact made me a little sad. And the other sad thing is that my sister wanted to play World with me, but her PC wasn't compatible with it so I had to go the whole distance alone. And it was fun and exhausting at the same time. Just like how I started.

Mind you: fighting Fatalis was supposed to be a _group_ operation, with _tens_ of people. Depending on your first clear, you canonically slay Fatalis SOLO (or with just THREE other people) Imagine that. A whole monster hunting force is put together in a massive operation to take down this thing...and like the absolute _unit_ you are, you kill it in one go, SOLO, with every odd stacked against you. If you weren’t already a legend before this, you sure as hell are now. That’s why it’s called “Proof of a Hero.”

The great thing about the first version bring played against Icebourne Fatalis is that it brings history not only for the Hunter, but for Fatalis itself. It is familiar because it is the same song played when he was first brought down. He HEARS this song, and when he does, he KNOWS what's gonna happen. It unleashes every strongest attack that it could muster not because of it's usual hatred against humanity, but because of fear. A familiar feeling when a hero clad in armor and weapon has finally beaten him. The story of hunter and monster throughout the generations up until the new world. The hero has risen again, and Fatalis' downfall is our proof

We hit the dragonator and this starts playing. Fatalis unleashed his fire spray and I'm caught in the middle, shield up, my buddy behind me. My shield blocked the fire and managed to keep him safe while he continued to whail on him with sticky ammo. Then the rando jumped up and clung to his head spun him around and launched him into the wall which managed to finish him. EPIC. SHIT.

You play a lance? You have my awe and respect sir: my third Fatalis victory was this SOS response with two Lance mains. Those mad hunters tanked the fire cone of death, the fireballs, the flamethrower, the candlestick makers, all while together we broke the head twice and practically bullied Fatalis to death in the last phase. Like seriously; I look at them during the fire cone while I'm attacking the head and there's just a sea of fire and two damn walls of steel taking what amounted to a bunch of chicken scratches to their health. That was the day I learned how much abuse a good Lance wielder's shield can take. I get the feeling I haven't learnt exactly how much abuse they can take just yet.

when i landed my first dragonator on a loa shan lung back in freedom 2 as a kid, it became the most hyped moment ever. pure adrenaline coursed through me as i continuously stabbed it in the belly with less than 5 minutes on the timer to either repel or slay. i dont remember if i was succesful my first try but i know the moment i got cleared the quest that things had changed. i started with the simple intent to fight a big dragon and get its weapon, but left feeling like a master hunter. 10 years later after having not been able to really play much of the series aside from most of unite at the time (before my psp broke) and the entirety of 4u once (before also giving to a friend) i decided to pick up world to relive my childhood again. i got to zorah ready to experience what i had with lao, and as nice as it was, something just felt off. it simply wasnt the same. worlds iteration of proof of a hero was hype back at the trailer reveal but it for some reason didnt connect with me while facing zorah. nonetheless i continued the game and having a blast taking on new challenges. iceborne came and i had to see this through to the end. cut to fatalis being offically announced i couldnt think about anything but how to prepare or how the fight might turn out for the first 2 weeks. a week before the update i grinded and cheesed through whatever i was behind on with a furious sticky hbg and set my eyes on alatreon (only fought maybe twice). the night of the update came i felt as prepped as i possibly could. i managed to get phase 3 that night but the need for sleep was overbearing. spent the next day watching vids and streams of others reactions only up to as far as i had gotten. day 3 came and i gave it another go. it was a fight to remember. i carted countless times but not once did i get angry that i died, only disappointment that it might not be the one. that was until i finally heard the dragonator was ready for use. i ran to the lever and pulled without thinking much then i noticed thngs went had gone quiet and i knew something was up. i heard the horns and every fiber of my being felt it. my heart began racing even more than it already was. vision slightly blurred and goosebumps ran all across my skin from head to toe. i was aware that i might not have enough time to kill fatalis but ill be damned if i wasnt gonna try. shit had never been more hyped than that very moment. unfortunately i did get timed out but i didnt care. i had gotten far enough that day. i got to experience hearing that theme once again.

Yo same, I started on mh4u and this theme was always with me since gogmazion. I fought Zorah and all but the theme didn’t feel right, I think it was the dificulty of Fatalis and the Journey. With Zorah I knew that there was more to come, but with fatalis I knew this was the end. Fatalis took me 2 weeks to kill and throughout my second week I felt emotionless but not without hope, I’m not sure what it was, but I got to the point where I couldn’t rage anymore, every cart I did did not matter to me, at first I wanted to kill it just for the armor but something changed, my motivation grew and with that my desire to just kill fatalis grew. And then one day I was at the final stand with one of my friends, I remember seeing him low health and running towards the dragonator, I quickly got on the lever and pulled the dragonator, my emotion upon pulling to thing was so overwhelming that I groan as if I was my hunter, then I jumped down and hit it with every I had, as fatalis got up and stood their in fury so did I, my emotions at the moment were filled with anger and happiness towards the beast, I yelled at it *Yeah you better be pissed off!*. And then after that it was over, I can’t really describe how I felt after that but my heart was beating fast, yet I felt warmth in it, instead of going and checking the armor I just stood there thinking about the hunt, in my mind there was only one thought left... *this is it, the end of my journey...*

I'm crying, these games are my childhood. I've been playing like a veteran since tri but actually hated this game back on the Dos, and my older brother owned the original. I'm going to say this right here and right now, Iceborne has got be the best, but iceborne can't beat the memories of the old games.

This feels so nostalgic. Fatalis sure gave us a hard time at first but once you get used to him it becomes bearable, sometimes you'll still make mistakes and die but it is ok just keep trying. I spammed Fatalis so much when it was released and only got a few wins but it's all worth it because the fun and excitement is there, I felt so alive fighting this dude. Looking back at it somehow it feels annoying when this song pops up and Fatalis decides to kill you or one of your teammates and it's game over lmao.

The hardest part of Fatalis is that there's no margin of error in many parts, so you have to take a lot of hits and cart a lot to figure out what NOT to do.

Idk if anyone would be able to relate with me on this, but did anyone have that sudden feeling of just letting out a guttural roar after hearing proof of a hero alongside Fatalis? The feeling of victory when this song rises up just fills you with ambition to crush Fatalis, I can’t get enough

Best moment I've ever had in fighting dragons in game EVER. i was carted, utterly defeated numerous times, but just one, that one moment, when i finally managed to use dragonator with my friend, then this music starts playing. I felt shiver down my spine, somehow there's a switch flipped on in me and i scream, i grab a nearby dragon pod and flinched him right before he unleashed his hellfire breath at my friend. Screaming and clinging onto hope that i finally beat it. And we beat it. Finally. Just one victory. Was all that i needed to free myself from that cycle. Then i laughed like dio killing jotaro lol. Anyway it was epic, 10/10 would do it again. I ran out of mega demondrug and mega armorskin, run out of all gourmet vouchers. Damn. Best moment I've had in Monster Hunter.

Yeah, I know that feeling. It took me the better part of a month to get my first kill (a solo kill no less) against Fatalis. Fatalis really does deserve his spot as the final boss of the FRANCHISE, and finally beating him is glorious catharsis after struggling to stop the civilization destroyer. Every victory afterwards has felt similar, because he's so tough that a victory is not guaranteed even after multiple wins to learn how to fight him, and after getting better equipment.

I joined back in Tri and have been with the series to this very day. Seeing so many people have that memory created of a version of Proof of a Hero playing while taking down one of the toughest monsters in the game they’re playing is incredible. I’m proud that you all stuck with the game and got to the grand finale. It’s even more amazing to share the feeling of the hunt with others, and to see this massive obstacle in your way finally start getting desperate after you fought for so long to finally take it down, feeling like you’ve had no impact until this perfect theme starts playing. You have all done well. The community is proud of you- and we will experience many more hunts like this one!

This really hits different when the 5 minutes remaining notification pops up and you're hanging on every second with one cart left. Fatalis did its final flame when there was about 2 minutes left. At about a minute and 10 seconds remaining, I hopped on the roaming ballista. Its head breaks for the second time. I rushed in and finished it off with 43 seconds left. The way Capcom makes a playthrough of a game feel like a tale of bravery and heroism is absolutely incredible. Ever since I was gifted 3U on the 3DS in 2017, I was hooked. From my first Great Jaggi, to overcoming the at the time monumental task of slaying a Lagiacrus. From Ceadeus lurking in the marine abyss to the legendary Fatalis who sits atop its ruined throne of Schrade, thank you Capcom for all the memories and the amazing experiences.

I remember joining a bunch of random players trying to kill Fatalis for the first time. I don't know how we did it but we did. I was an SnS, several of them used different types of weapons through different phases of the fight and one of them who switched to dual blades managed to break the final horn on his head for us to finally get the killing blow. With 30 seconds to spare. That, combined with this song, was an adrenaline rush like none other I've ever felt in a video game.

I love how from what ik every other theme sounds like a dragon/monster theme and them having scary sounds but in this, the final it’s your theme and you being a heroic hero fighting a scary dragon and giving all you got in the last minutes of the fight. Just so cool
