Don't feel bad for picking up shinies during the fight in the Guiding Lands! They disappear after a minute or two here, and carts don't influence team mates anyway so don't let the treasures despawn!!

Was about to comment that myself. ALWAYS PICK UP GUIDING LANDS SHINIES DURING THE FIGHT! They despawn pretty quickly.

Yeah one time I had eight shinies on the ground from a tempered ruiner nerg, plus I had geologist so 16 treasures, and then I got carted and when I returned only one of them remained. Now I pick them up the moment they drop.

"Oh boy, a method to get them fast!" Proceeds to explain exact method I'm already using. "Shit..."

I’m surprised no one has mentioned tempered Namielle, one of the easiest elders, and super easy to break it’s parts, the coral region is also one of the most common high level lands

The geologist decoration has been a great boon in farming GL mats. I’m so glad I watched your videos through my play through I’m always looking for ways to get ahead of the crafting curve.

I hear ya. So many times I've gone in a hunt just to fight a monster and then the host leaves. I think if that happens a new leader should be appointed and they can have the option to lure out something new. Its very rare that I've stayed with the same party for more than one hunt, guess it depends 0n the monsters but even then they leave.

You get the shiny drops when you break monster parts and when the monsters get flinched, get knocked down, when you run them into a wall (usually drops next to the wall and on the place where the monster falls). You can also get Great Spiritvein Gems from monster carves and as hunting rewards when you report to the handler or leave the guiding lands expedition. Happy hunting!

Stygian Zinogre is going to come in the March (12th) update with Safi. I don't know if the update includes a tempered version of Stygian Zinogre. My assumption was the update would.

I've had the most luck with tempered Velkhana. After breaking her face and wings, she drops more shinies breaking her ice armor. I've completely maxed out her shiny drops that way. (As in she stopped dropping shinies when flinched or ice armor broken).

That Geologist trick is a game changer! I had NO IDEA that skill let you gather shinies twice! Thank you for that 😃👍

Is it weird that I was mentally taking notes while watching this? I’ve been meaning to augment several weapons and armor preparing for the next safi siege and I found this video extremely helpful!

4:22 he's partially right but it's best to collect them when the monster's down cuz *the shinies will disappear after awhile*

you literally have no other choice than gathering in the middle of the fight because of the absurdly awful loot design. those shinies disappear after about 2 minutes if they are not picked up

@@TheDustyMuffinsss its is really bad, you either choose to hunt the monster faster or stop the fight for the itens. This extends the fight too much and a lot of times drops just disappear before you can stop to get them

I've also carved them after killing the monsters, and rewarded them from capturing tempered rajang. So you could also use skills that increase carves or rewards to get more.

9 months later, Ruiner Nergi MR 100 event quest is also an easy great spirit vain gem farm as well, farmed the quest for experience for like 3 days and got like 100 gems

Hey, FYI the quest 50 Shades of White that just came out for the festival gives the Fest Tickets to forge the Guild Palace weapons, and its apparently also on PC.

In my experience, tempered deviljho has dropped me the most great spiritvein gems out of all the monsters in a single run. (Probably luck of course)

Another tip that i have felt works for me is use either the 2 piece guild works armor or 2 piece guild palce armor for lucky set bonus or 3 piece kirin for great luck set bonus

Something you forgot to mention. Seething Bazle, Stygian Zin, Silver Los and Gold Ian all drop great spiritvein gems in their tempered forms.

This is super helpful, im still at MR 58 needs more grind i think 😅

monsters I found that drops a lot of these is tempered blackveil and tempered Velkhana

Tempered Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian (maybe tempered Stygian Zinogre too) have a small chance of dropping Great Spiritvein Gems too

I recently managed to get my play fixed, and as soon as it was ready I hopped back in mhw to play that awesome new content. So this video was really helpful for me. Unrelated but, can you do a video for the new weapons attacks or drop a link in my comment below if you have one already out?

Got 2 Great Spiritvein Gems a few hours ago from a temp Stygian. My friend even got 3!

I was hoping for a guide on which tempered monsters I should hunt to get weapon augments for Rarity 10, 11, 12 weapons as well as which monster drops materials to augment for affinity & element/status up.

Tempered threat 3 also includes bezelguese, silver rath, and gold rath

Some tips for when there are a lot of shinies on the ground. (mostly for solo players) Use a flashpod, dungpod (but not on elders) put on a mantel like rocksteady, temperal, ghilli (if you don't mind giving up a mantel slot), sleep ammo for bowgun and bow users, the shield gadget for your paloco. (run away from the shinies and use the shield stooge for distraction) Of course you can just run around and doge attacks to collect them these tips are just ways to get them easily. Some general tips for the G lands - If you cart to a monster you get a message that rewards will be depleted but you can activate fortify (make a load out that has no armor and a fortify charm or deco on a weapon) by using barrel bombs to cart yourself and it won't decrease rewards. I do wish they patch a fix for fortify skill in G lands cause when the effect wears off it won't activate again until you leave the G lands and as someone who grinds in there for 3-5 hours its annoying. When you cart I feel like the shinies disappear faster when you not in the area so its best to just run back without eating or refilling items. I can't confirm this but I feel like I have gotten more great spirit gems from carving then from the rewards for capturing (for non elders I shouldn't even need to say this but just the other day I was helping someone with Namiel and they used a trap during the fight and when it was sleeping)

I’ve seen shinnies drop just from attacking monster with weapons without slamming them into a wall though letting them hit the wall gives you more. Shinnies only last so long in the ground before disappearing which is why I think people grab them so fast.

TL3 Monsters include all Elder Dragons, Rajang, Savage Deviljho, Silver Rathalos, Gold Rathian, Seething Bazelgeuse, and Stygian Zinogre. He may not have mentioned them, simply because as of now, PC only has Savage Deviljho as an option, with Rajang just down the road.

You can also increase the shiny drops with plunderblade’s palarang

could you make a video on deco farming in MR or early/mid/late tier MR gear sets?

I feel the SOS needs to be broadened, I keep finding the same guiding land players when I refresh. can be hard to find certain regions

you can also get them from tempered silver rathalous and tempered gold rathian

All tempered tier 3 mons drop great spirit vein gems in guiding lands. All elders plus Goldian, Slos, Bazel, Rajang, Jho and Stygian. Also it is extremely important to do a 360(clockwise) everytime you collect a shiny as shown in the video.

Stygian Zinogre seems to drop great spiritvein gems at a higher rate than other tier3 tempered. I normally get 1 greatgem from elders but average 2 to 3 from Stygian.

I pick them up since they can disappear if they're left on the ground for too long. Chances are they will be if I wait until the monster transitions to the next zone with many of the parties I've been in.

Also, if you lure a threat level 3 monster on a region that is level 7, it is a guarenteed tempered version.

I'm on console. Had the game about a week and only just unlocked Black Veil Vaal. I've been using the Aastral set as it has a 10 resistance to all elements. I've just killed a Savage Jho during the task to go to Hoarfrost. I just want a few Full armour sets that will help me from MR5 onwards

i found that augmention those rarity 10 is better than 11 or 12 as a dualblade, wasnt sure if i was right, so was focusing on gathering material just for those 10 rarity, 100 hours in the game as new player.

Tempered namielle is the elder that drops the most for me at least all others outside of rajang drops them here/there

o.o i pickup shinies immediately because they disappear really quickly and too many times they've done so right before i've picked them up when i've tried bieng a good teammate. All this time i've done that, and seen other players do just the same and not thought anything of it. How odd

I always thought, the level cap for grinding lands is at 21 or 23, just noticed, that i can have more than two regions at level 7 😅

Problem with not picking shinies mid combat...They dispawn faster then you can finish combos sometime . I had double wall slam on nergi and first drops dissapeared before we finished. You HAVE TO pick them up as soon as they drop or in next 2-3 mins . Its just how that farm was designed unfortunatly

Heres a tip that might help anybody out use weapons with sleep and try to put the monster to sleep it's a free Yeet into the wall and easy way to get more loot to drop. If everyone is running sleep weapons you can put the monster to sleep multiple times

Shinies disappear after so much time has passed. So, I don't begrudge someone taking a few seconds to pick them up. Usually one person of the four is too far away to hit the monster or they need to heal. It really doesn't make any difference in the length of a fight.

My strategy is to keep fighting for a minute before I go to pick them up. They despawn relatively quickly but not so fast that you need to be a douch and drop everything to get those shinies.

Feel the need to share this with some fellow monster hunters. Dragalia Lost(mobile game) is going to be starting a Monster Hunter crossover event in less than a week and they are doing it justice. Fatalis is even gonna show up.

Does the geologist skill actually increase the number of items received from shiny drops and carves? Cuz I run it on my "gathering" set and I have never noticed it giving me an increase in numbers.

I've seen some people flinch shot monsters even tho they are enraged, the icon is red, is it a bug, glitch or can you only do it if you have a heavy weapon??

I found that it is much easier to get GSG with non-elders, and much easier to fight.

Full list of monsters (for now) that drop the great spiritvein gems. Make sure you summon them in a level 7 grinding lands local so they are tempered. All temp elder dragons Silver Rathalos Gold Rathian Rajang Savage Jho Seething Bazelgeuse Stygian Zinogore
