Well, People don't really know about Another Monster, many people just think that Monster is one story done, but yeah you can say that he shouldn't have revealed it, it's more fun to interpret it in our ways, with our views of understanding but as I said almost to none people know about it... I'm too slow and curious, idk anymore what to believe, i saw someone said In the ending of the show 1. Johan was all an illusion by tenma Johan is not actually on the bed in all time, tenma failed to the operation and Johan died. 2. Johan escape from the hospital that's why the window is open and the bed is kinda mess and lived in his life as a normal human and not a Monster anymore. The no.2 is kinda make sense because Didn't Grimmer and Johan was the same from kinderheim? Before Grimmer died he said "I think I must have figured out how the show ended. The Magnificent Steiner, he probably, became human again." make sense when the show ended too Johan prolly became a human again. But can you explain what's Naoki Urasawa actually says on Another Monster about what happened to Johan at the end, because i can't understand what you explained on this video

In Naoki Urasawa's Another Monster, Johan was in coma the entire time during it events take place, it just follows a completely different story in the same universe of Monster. And what exactly did you not understand of my explanation, just ask and I'll try to explain that in a better way here.

I don't think Tenma isn't a monster or he is a monster. As in the episode scene where johan was shot for the second time we could see tenma try to pull the trigger but was stopped by Nina. So I think Johan did win and lost at the same time as tenma was going to become a monster if he wasn't stopped by Nina but didn't become as Johan was shot by the drunk. Here both of them won and lost at the same time. Edit: sorry for bad english 🤦‍♂

I dont get how u can say "no1 expected an happy ending" the show was straight foward since the beginign it was obvious it would be an happy ending since the begining. It was a mystery anime, but it wasnt a plot twits kind of anime, it was allways about finding happyness, compassion, love everywhere, and thats why Johan was so "evil".

Well considering how dark this anime was since the beginning only and so much deep psychological aspects have been explored. I didn't expected that it could have an happy or wholesome ending like this, I thought it would be very dark or deep.

I think Johan was right, I believe that Tenma was going to kill him if drunk guy didn’t appear.

If Tenma were to kill Johan.. he would have already killed him when he got chances. But Tenma didn't... because Tenma is not a killer, he is a doctor, a saviour. He was forced to train himself how to kill someone in order to kill Johan, but he could never have done so, even if the drunk guy wouldn't have appeared. So believing that Johan was right.. would be a person of attitude . You should realize what you speak. Further, you understand better.

@@user-oi6sy2go9t I totally understand what you said and believing johas was right doesn’t mean that I agree with him. You say he would kill him cause he got chance but it is not an easy decision. At the last scene Tenma was going to chose either kid’s life or johan’s life. In both cases, the conclusion is every life isn’t equal so Johan was right and lastly, I don’t think that Tenma let the kid murdered by Johan. But the anime left this part to us it is the main question right?

Redemption isn't that simple. You don't get to spend 15 years being a mass murderer, spend a few months in a hospital and all is forgiven. Nor does Tenma's constant hesitation absolve him of the fact he could have ended this multiple times and saved countless lives. Doctors are constantly making choices on the value of one life over another. It's called triage. Or if you prefer, cutting out dead/harmful flesh like necrosis or cancer to save the whole body. Tenma wouldn't have been a monster for killing Johan, he would have been ending a life threatening disease. This is the philosophy of children.

Sounds similar to the trolley problem lol. Still I think tenma not killing Johan was more of a circumstances didn't let him or his conscience kinda thing. Even in the end when tenma delayed pulling the trigger, for me it felt like he couldn't let go of himself. He was a doc and they save lives, and actually I loved this thing bout the series the most, tenma never killed no one except in the first ep, where he indirectly caused someone to die. Tenma knew what it felt like to carry that burden. Also how tenma always asked everyone not to kill, understanding how it feels when someone dies cause of you, was his best trait. But wasn't this one of the themes of the story? "All lives aren't equal". To save one someone dies. It always happened in the anime. Also Johan wasn't forgiven after all the events but before bro's second headshot. Right?

Doctor Tenma is now number 1 of my favourite characters of all the animes. He was just too good to be true but still his emotions were relatable. I missed some parts like they could have shown some feelings of being tired of life by Tenma, any ordinary human being would be sucidal in such a horrific situation but maybe he was extraordinary. I just loved the part where everyone he knew was not ready to believe that he was the murderer. He earned love, respect by those who knew him and he deserved it . Him saving JOHN at the end was making me angry at firsr but at the second thought this was his character, he was never meant to kill anyone. He give life and hope , he was a ray of sunshine. Exactly opposite to Johan and that's why he wanted him to end him and be the one who witness the last scenary. This anime was a extremely beautiful experience. Loved it ❤

Indeed. Tenam is definitely one of the best protagonists ever in a series. He didn't have any sort of strength speed or intelligence but solely because of his kindness he turned out to be such a good character.

There is a theory that johan committed suicide, because his last plan was only *The Ultimate Suicide* and he jumped from the window or there is one more theory that there was no johan actually , tenma was just remembering him and in reality he wasn't able to protect him at last . What is ur thoughts , discuss here..

Thanks! And I would say Monster is one of it's kind, I don't think so any other show have this kind of villian, story, realism & direction. Only Death Note comes closer in this genre, but as i said Monster is one of it's kind, there's no other series which even have parallels to this.

I watch many webseries like johan so i know that johan character very well. After reading whole picture book of boanaparta he imagining that there is a real in his body and he will eat him. When vim's shot the johan he loses and a monster die in him.

I think I'm going to stop watching anime and focus on myself and I'm glad that the last anime i watched is MONSTER 2004

My friend watched this anime and it affected him so much, he changed, and I felt uncomfortable with his ideas, he said that he's discovering himself more and know more about aspects he didn't know it's a part of his personality... I'm really afraid, because I saw the evil in his eyes and thoughts.. what should I do? He was already lost in his life before even watching it, and sometimes he wonder if he is a psycho or not, he wished he could be like Johan, he thinks about people's life and death in the same way as johan.. I need someone to tell me what to do, i don't want him to hurt himself or other people and become evil

Dude Just be a Tenma in his life....As his friend it's ur responsibility to give him his lost hope and repair his messed up ideologies about life & death. Just start making some happy memories. Make him realize the fact that life is both light and dark....that this world is filled with both good and bad people.....maybe he is exposed to the ugly side of this world for a long time....An anime like this alone cannot change a person that badly...as u said that "he already lost in his life" help him win.......

Well...i read another monster and here is my theory.....Some say the incidents of another monster happened in the mean time of johan in coma and the last scene of empty bed is actually the ending of the whole series.....

Tenma accepts Eva's proposal to reunite and she never told lunge about that neck tie. General wolf never found Johan and Anna

Thanks and Answering to the question, Johan was a super soldier created by Franz Bonaparta; bereft of emotions, desires, and personal goals. Later, Johan lost most of his memories in Kinderheim 511’s super soldier program in East Germany. One of the few memories he retained was the story of the Nameless Monster - Bonaparta’s children’s storybook. The story made a deep impression on Johan, but Johan could not remember that it came from a book. He just vaguely remembered the story. So the story became Johan’s “mission”. To become the nameless monster inside a boy who devoured all the humans in the world. So that no one was left to call him by his name: Johan. To achieve this, he went after Schuwald’s wealth. But in Schuwald’s library, he stumbled upon the Nameless Monster book and he realized that his “mission”, which he thought was something that he himself decided on, was actually just a children’s storybook. So Johan abandoned his plan to wipe out humanity and decided to regain his lost memory. When he uncovered all the secrets surrounding his birth and childhood, he realized that his very first “mission” came from his mother Anna. Who in her grief at losing her lover vowed that her unborn children would have their revenge against Bonaparta. That’s why Johan decided to massacre the town of Ruhenheim and avenge her. To complete the first ever mission he was given by his mother before he was even born. And he didn't really have any goal to pursue later, he was just empty inside, that's why he thought to die via "Perfect Suicide".

But as far as i remember johan first and the last mission from her mother is to kill franzz , why did johan massacre a town just to kill franz, i totally loved when people started killing each other but it all fell apart in my mind if johan's intentions were just to kill franz and get killed by tenma. also is it safe to assume that our super solider even though has no memory has his abilities like manipulation?

@@rajivratan6861 after the experiments in Kinderheim 511, he became insanely nihilistic, he didn't really cared about life, as he had only said that "Humans are only equal in death, so why live?" So basically he's just that cold hearted that he can kill an entire town just for fun, also by creating a massacre like this is beneficial for him as from above it would seem like a massive outbreak, and Franz dying would look like he got killed in the massacre, nobody would get to know that it was done by a person, and answering about the manipulation thing then, it's a skill which he possesses since his birth, as I had said that he was an experiment and he was made to be perfect, so his manipulations are a part of his smartness or iq, it doesn't really have anything to do with memories much...

@@randomentertainer4837 ye, also I think he is lost... When tenma saved him 2nd time when we see Johan wakes up in that mini scene he saw who is Johan for real. Who is that person, and when he operates him first time he don't know who he is, and he said that director would be better dead and the chief doctor, because they are bad guys. In 2nd time he realize who Johan is, and then Johan escaped like in first time after the operation he runs away. In my theory I think Johan did not changed, just Tenma then knew who he operated for real, and he needed to do it to see it clearly. Great story, tenma is a good man but he messed up at first, so now he can understand that he can't know who the person is when he operates them. Johan opened Tenmas mind in what human being is possible to do, and tenma believed he is doing good things whole life, but when Johan came he realized that he is the troubled god who is saving people life's, but he can't see who they are for real.

Anyone knows If 20th Century Boys will get an Anime adaptation? I love monster and I heard many good things about 20th Century Boys

Both were parts of experiments of Franz but later on as you know he took Nina from her mother and Johan, then he sort of cured her and she became normal like others but Johan remained the same and everything Nina faced during that process she told to Johan and later on Johan thought that this has happened with him.

@@chronussx Well the entire theme of the show centres around the fact that everyone has a name and it's beautiful. Not revealing the names for me was just an artistic choice from Naoki Urasawa. As in real life you would not know anyone's name unless you ask them. It's something similar here. The characters have kept it to themselves and not revealing it unless we ask them.

@@randomentertainer4837 i felt the same after ive completed the anime. when i initially came to know about the plot i was sold. a doctor comes across a monster, keeps his career at stake to save it, later realises what he has done and goes on a journey to finish the monster. GREAT. but it took me almost 2 years to finish it, i would start, watch few episodes, gets fucking bored, forgets about its existence for a few days . this cycle repeated several times. one day i desparetley wanted to know about johan and tenma so sat and finished it (it felt like an achievenment due to the pacing). the anime almost did not have any unnecessary scenes or characters, but it might be because of the current form of entertainment (fast paced, keeps you at the edge of the seat).

Damn! Now i get it. The spoiled bedsheet at the end proved that someone was there and lunge previously mentioned that someone who doesnt leave a trace behind is definitely the devil or monster. So Johan finally did leave a trace depicting his transitioning to a human. Thanks for the insight
