Autotune doesn't make a bad singer sounds better, it corrects pitch. If they overdo it, it will sound robotic, a singer needs to sing super close to the note they need to sing too. Just throwing it out there.

This is really the reason why so many people try autotune but never could master it it’s more than the actual autotune you have to have a decent voice as well

One of the main reasons why it was made is to help artists preserve their voice during recording if the artist was off one note, instead of repeating the whole run, they use autotune to correct that. TPAIN used it for style, not to fix his voice. JT’s Sexy Back was heavily auto-tuned too, but no one criticized him for it. The whole FUTURE SEX/Love machine used A LOT OF AUTOTUNE.

Even with autotune you can tell he a could sing. So much substance and range behind it. Just compare it to when they take a news clips and autotune it into a song... it still sounds like flat garbage. See this is why most people have terrible taste in music lol

T-Pain has a soulful voice. I don’t know what Usher said to him before but I think T-Pain could give him a run for his money. He deserved to win. He is awesome.

T- pain was innovative and talented far from everyone in earlier 2000's but many artists jealousy and ignorance critized him instead for introducing a tool that at the end of the day every single one of them in the pop industry end up using it.

he was the first to use autotune as a fun elemental effect in the mainstream, but auto tune was around for at least two decades prior to this, he didn't invent it, he just revolutionized using it as a vocal effect as opposed to simply using it as pitch correction for production studios on big records. Cher was really the one who started the autotune phenomenon

Every time I hear the next song, I’m like “oh yeah! This is my favorite” until I hear the next song… Never been to a concert, never cared to go, but I would pay Taylor Swift money to go see a TPain concert of mashup songs like this live

I love how he did different genres from his usual genre. It kept his identity hidden longer

Stay With Me still gives me goosebumps to this day. T-Pain absolutely nailed it on that one.

Masked Singer will never top T-Pain as a contestant. Just the whole vibe he brought was absolutely perfect for this type of show

T-Pain did it right since people never expected this out of him. And honestly, this was one of the best moments ever

Any true fan of T-Pain knows that man got sum serious skills without auto tune, but I'm glad the whole world finally got to see it, he definitely deserves it....

So many comments are directed towards his rendition of Stay With Me (and deservedly so), but I still to this day think it was important for T-Pain to sing I Don't Want To Be in week 2. It genuinely felt like him casting off the identities he had been saddled with for far too long.

The reason his autotune manipulation sounded as smooth as it did is because he can actually pop those notes and is a HIT songwriter. couldnt have written it better than this: putting the world on notice in the way. noice!

His voice is so unique that I can’t fathom it was a mystery. His singing voice is extremely close to his speaking voice.

When he hit the high note, that’s where you knew the hosts where hooked

I'll be 80 yrs old and still be crying and wiggling my feet to this.

To think he didn't even think he was gonna make it to the finals (that's why he chose this costume) he just wanted to have fun and show that he's still around and can SING no autotune needed

Only the OG’s who followed him from the start, knew what talent he had. PAIN had so many things covered. SINGING was one of them!

Always knew it was T Pain ...he has a particular sound. He has a couple deeper songs with little to no autotune on them like drowning again. I was so happy when he won. deserves all the respect.

Exactly. Autotune isn’t just a magic fix all machine, you still gotta be able to sing well, otherwise it’ll still sound weird, and the notes will shift all over the place weirdly

T-pain is just superb. He can do so many things. Sing, rap, dance… the list could probably go on!

Yeah but u gotta remember that they are listening to a bunch of people, and also, you can’t see who it is. Yes he has a distinct voice but it’s not completely unreasonable not to be able to guess him(also it’s probably scripted anyway)

I'm glad he did this. It made me more of a fan and get to know all the things he is into like drifting and gaming.
