    THANK YOU for making this video. I recently bought this keyboard and found your guide incredibly helpful when it came to assembling it (particularly the stabilisers). Monsgeek should link to this on their website, since they provide no meaningful documentation. Coincidentally, I'm also using the crystal wine red switches in my build, and am finding them "interesting" compared with the other switches I've used (Cherry red, Gateron brown, Cherry blue). They're fun and super-light but I think I'll eventually find something else which has a bit more resistance. They also have the tendency to come out of the board when I lift off the keycaps. My M1 with PBT/doubleshot keycaps had a VERY metallic space bar sound, so I applied the "jelly tape" mod; layers of plastic double-sided tape inside the space bar, and this has completely resolved that issue.

    Great Video with in-depth explanation, I ordered the M1 as well as the akko cream yellow pro's yesterday and will definitely use this as a guide to assemble mine. The included "tape mod" adhesive sheet while a thoughtful idea, is not good in execution. The paper is too stiff that it does not contour to the bottom of the PCB because it is sitting on the hot swap sockets and not touching the PCB where it matters. That results in large air gaps between each row and a hollower sound than stock. When using painter's tape for tape mod I can take more care and make sure the tape touches the PCB in between each row of sockets. Personally I feel that my M1W sounds best with the stock foams and no tape mod. The whole point of case foams that have the PCB cutouts is that the foam rests right up against the PCB and isolates one socket from the next.

  • @itssamueltan

    @itssamueltan

    6 ай бұрын

    I agree that the tape mod included is kinda stiff and of course a few layers of painters tape will sound better. But it's included to help beginners and to keep the warranty. If anything happens because you modded it yourself you will have to fix the keyboard yourself, but if you use the mods given and something breaks you can just ask for a replacement.
