MONREAL GERMANY - A Beautiful Picturesque Town In The Eifel 8K
Monreal is a beautiful picturesque town in the Eifel in Germany. The beautiful half-timbered houses, the castles and the authentic atmosphere make Monreal a must to visit when you are in the Eifel.
Monreal is located in the Volcanic Eifel , a beautiful and interesting area of the Eifel. The idyllic town is located about 7 kilometers from Mayen, another beautiful and interesting place in the Eifel.
The Eifel Museum Mayen is located here, among other things . Furthermore, for example, a well-known tourist place such as Cochem is only 25 kilometers to the south. Monreal is located in the Elztal where the small river Elz (Elzbach) flows.
The history of Monreal in brief.
Monreal is already a very old town. Finds prove that the place already existed before the era. Officially (in writing) Monreal “pas” was first mentioned in the year 1229.
Monreal was then called Mons regalis, meaning King's Mountain. Around this time, Count Philipp von Virneburg transferred the area to his brother Hermann. In his order, the castle was also built to protect the place.
The place has two castles, the Löwenburg (also called Burg Monreal) and the Philippsburg.
In 1306 Monreal already received city rights. The market rights did not follow until 1642. The town was part of the Archdiocese of Trier.
However, the Count of Virneburg also had a good relationship with the Archdiocese of Cologne (Köln), which in turn led to conflicts with Trier, after which Trier decided to place its "own" people on the castle in Monreal.
Löwenstein Castle has had to endure a lot. The castle was destroyed by Swedish troops in 1632 and in 1689 it was the French who destroyed the Löwenburg.
When the 30-year war was over, an important cloth / textile industry developed in Monreal. Due to the large sheep herds around the picturesque place in the Eifel, there was of course a lot of wool available. This brought a lot of prosperity to the place and trade flourished.
Towards the end of the 19th century, however, trade collapsed due to strong competition from abroad. Soon all trade collapsed and the place grew poorer.

Very nice. All the timbered building with the same shade of red timbers and so covered on the buildings. I don't think I've ever seen that much timber in a design - very distinctive. I loved the overhead view too. Nice little area. Thank you.

Great video! So beautiful and calm to watch. And it is great, too, that the video is without music that so often does not suit to videos. Instead in your video one can hear the birds and the water. I know the place from hearsay but did not know that it is as beautiful as in your video. Monschau (same area) is beautiful as well.

Is this place real? I can't believe how beautiful it is. I didn't know that there is a village called "Monreal" in Germany. Do you happen to know if there is a story behind the red designs on the buildings? Your videos get better and better each time. I love the fact that you use no external audio. It's nice to hear the birds and the other natural sounds. You also stop and let us enjoy the beautiful moments for a few moments. The view from above was also another great touch. Thank you. Die Eifel hat viel schönes zu bieten, auch bei mir Zuhause, genieße gerade noch den späten Abend im Garten mit frischer Gewitterluft aus der Ferne, sie kühlt schön ab vom doch Recht warmen Sonntag! Das einzige was stört ist der nahe gelegene US Militär Flugplatz Spangdahlem der für große Licht und Umweltverschmutzung sorgt, und auch eine große Lärmbelastung ist, doch heute Abend ist kein Flugbetrieb da stört nur die Lichtverschmutzung, aber es entschuldigt leider nicht das die Air Base wohl der größte Umweltverschmutzer von ganz Rheinland Pfalz ist! Ohne diesen schwarzen Fleck wäre die Eifel noch im einiges schöner wie sie eh schon ist.

Wow! I think I said that at least 100 times watching this. Your filming is mucho bella. You are my favorite and in my opinion the best there is. Is it the camera or an attachment that allows you to walk up and down stairs without the bouncy look? Have you ever done Interlaken? I would love to see it by you. I tried to watch someones just now and I honestly thought I was going to throw up it was so jittery, I had to quit before it was half over. But it is so beautiful there. I know you could capture it perfectly. What a job that must be, going to beautiful places and filming it so others that will probably never be able to go can now enjoy it. Are you aware of how blessed you make people? I pray God blesses you in return. Thank you. And thank you for the history of Monreal, it was interesting reading.

When I see Europe in these videos it makes me want to visit it for all of its beautiful architecture and scenery. When I think of the next age the kingdom age when Christ sets things up there will be absolutely no comparison and what a wonder it will be to behold. You really don't want to miss the next era it will in comparison make whats in these videos look run down and worn out. If you want to be there there is a way and His name is Jesus. @@ColtraneTaylorEiffel comes from Gustave Eiffel which he was born in France to German parents, his real name was Bönickhausen. When the French had difficulty pronouncing this name, he took the name of the "Eifel" region in Germany where his family came from.
