Back in the day, that 70's Volare/Roadrunner front suspension swap was actually pretty popular. They were plentiful in the boneyards and offered lots of room to drop in whatever engine

This kit was issued in a time where cutting edge for the F100 was the Aspen/ Volare front subframe welded to a perimeter frame and a Corvette IRS. Just about the time Boyd Coddington broke big. Street rods were about comfort for a men that could afford other people do their work. It’s a time capsule from a time not remembered well. Makes for a challenge build. How do you make it cool? I would say this kit is far better for kit bashers and less angst ridden hobbyists who “don’t know what it is but don’t like it”. I appreciate you showing the contents.

Hi guy, I can say one thing when you buy reissued models from monogram! They don't have the greatest detail in their kits, but yes they are fun builds which I highly enjoy to build....there is always kit bashing with all of their 1/24 scale builds specially for tires. I have built the 55 ford pickup but used different tires for the back and the front and they look sharp! Same same with the seats and other engine parts. Besides actually how many people are going to pickup the model and look at the frame and the whole undercarriage!!! Enjoying is fun about model building in our hobby...if you still want to get rid of your model send it to me !!!!

I personally picked up my model today for 10$. This is great for the money and I will use stencils to paint on details and designs. So far with the first coat it looks okay.

Well the good thing is it would be a great starter kit for a beginner.

Yeah man I totally understand your issues wit this kit. I have the older one molded in red and I am still building it but in my vid I talked also about how crappy I thought this kit is. I've done alot of work just to get the kit workable and I too couldn't understand why the tires and wheels were so small! Lol

Im working on the ed roth right now. You should do a review on it. I found a few problems. 1. The hood fits poorly. 2. The instruction have the numbers wrong for the leaf springs. The front and rear are labeled backwards. I did not use them on my kit..(sat too high) but noticed the error.

That sucks! Being that crappy and 2012 released!! I cant figure out where the front suspension is from either and i work on cars. Thanks for reviewing it and letting me know it is junk!

Needs some work but can be a decent build.

Worst part isn't the detail, it's just the weird proportions of the body. The '56 is about as bad, particularly the fenders, but yeah- that one blows it away in terms of overall detail. As far as the Volare front suspension- it is adjustable, and back before air ride suspensions became common, that was how you adjusted your stance- low for shows, higher for the road. At one point they were somewhat common. There is no stock version of this, but there is a panel delivery version which shares most of the components..

Do you actually start building models when you are done reviewing them?

Yea it needs work but is a good basis for a custom truck. Cut out all suspension and create new stuff and maybe diff drivetrain who knows. The way the kit is presented is not appealing to me.

I would look into buying a 1/18th diecast and just customizing it into what you want They always try to trick ya with these old reissues of the same crappy kit that our dad's built.

thats not even close to chrysler suspension, id now cuz i own an old chrysler, that has the same suspesion as the cordoba, just not even close

I built the ed roth kit and I can say it is NOT good! bad fit...very bad fit and bad directions, etc... but I am sure you know that by know.
