But it's a total mess to learn all the notes by ear so it will probably take 2 more months until I'm ready with that tune. I have 70% of the tune in my head at the moment but there are some technical challenges on some places. I hope I will reach 1000 subscribers when I release that tune :)

Haha, well, you're partly right in your guess. For years I have wanted to make a cover on that tune, but I did not know how I wanted it to be. But then this day came where I got inspiration and this was the result of 3-4 days of work until I was satisfied with the recordings and mixing/mastering :) Thanks a lot for your comment Chris. That really made my day!

Wow, man! This is absolutely incredible! The best thing today I have listened to! Monkey Island is a very important part of my life. I met the series in the 90s and I have been always replaying those games again and again. The music of the series is great and you have achieved a great performance. I love the chorus! It sounds very pirate-like!

Dear god, this is amazing and very well done! Even though I’ve never played any Monkey Island game (was born just a few years after it came out), I somehow stumbled into a rabbit hole of listening to its music in both its original and cover form, and this cover and the many others I’ve listened to make me want to play them now, especially with that Return to Monkey Island game which just recently came out!

It's a lot of nostalgia included in the hype of the game series! I finished rtmi recently and it was almost as good as the other ones imo.

The use of a pepper grinder to make music earned my like. The addition of laughter and whistling earned my awe. The full effect of pirate voiceovers gained my love. What a wonderfully beautiful composition.

The graveyard scene from Monkey Island 2 is literally the earliest memory I have of my life (born in '95, watched my dad play this from an incredibly early age). Absolutely love these games and play them to this day. I actually make my gf's play through them with me sometimes 😅. LOVE this cover man, subscribed immediately because of this. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

This is by far the best sound track of any computer game. I have heard the original more than 20 times while playing the game all those years ago. And I have heard the new version even more. This one is my favorite cover version. Well done :-) The only thing that annoys me is that the salt shaker is ahead of beat most of the tune.

Thank you very much! And yes, I totally agree about the shaker. When you focus on it, then it gets a bit annoying. But when you focus on another instrument, it's less annoying. It's too late to change now though and I was a bit clumsy on that one :(

Yeah, I was there by the logs for hours listening to that tune over and over the first time I played MI2 on a LAN party while all the other guys were playing Counter Strike :D I should have stayed there instead of playing further, then I would not have experienced the frustrating monkey wrench puzzle!

My first impulse was to try to find you on Spotify. Amazing music. Great as background for working.

@ Certainly does. Did you ever play Simon the Sorcerer? Was an English made adventure game, has some nice music, although not as good or as atmospheric as the Monkey Island music.

Yes!! I love Simon the Sorcerer. Though I only played the first one and that music was fantastic. I really liked the "bar music" in the town when you were in the bar. It's very Brittish humor compared to the MI games. I never played the second one properly because there were some sound issues. Somehow the speec volume was incredibly low compared to all the other sounds and I found nowhere to change the volume settings. Maybe in some configuration file? However, it made the second game unplayable for me. Did you experience the same issues with Simon 2?

@ Yes Simon 1 and 2 were fantastic. I didn't play the other 3d ones though. The last time I played Simon 2 was probably 15 years ago. It seemed to work run fine on the hardware I was using at the time, but I never got to complete it either because a bug stopped me from leaving a room, I just couldn't exit it, and I was close to finishing the game too. So maybe the game was quite buggy on the whole. I'd like to replay both of them again.

Wow, that's an anti-climax! Hope they fixed the bug since then, or if there are some scripts for that or some saving slots that you can use in emergency cases like that. I feel you ;)

If someone were to try to look up this "genre/feel" of music on Spotify, what would you search for? I could listen to this all day but "Sea Shanties" seems to be mostly vocal. I like the accordion and flute combination

Hmm, I'm not sure. Maybe Scandinavian folk music. Try searching for "Groupa" or "Gunnfjauns kapell" or "Dalakopa" or "Den fule" and you may find stuff you like :)

Welp the shanty type bit at around 2 minutes wins it for me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the whole cover. But that portion (and the choir bit around 2:40) were easily my favorites.

Haha, nope. Not really! But when I saw a midi version of the main theme, then the Campfire tune was also included in the same midi file. Therefore I thought it was "part" of the main theme since when you play the game, it actually overlaps immediately to the Campfire tune. So I put it in parenthesis. I saw it was also called the "Bart and fink theme". But no one will search for that on KZread I thought :D
