Monk Solves That Get Progressively More Complicated | Monk

Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that Monk saved a young boy from a life in prison, exposed a corrupt member of law enforcement and got a millionaire fashion show owner locked up for murder all out of him noticing that his shirt wasn't inspected properly.

The fact that she kept his letter and posted in by her workstation is one of the most wholesome things about this scene. People in jobs like this rarely, if ever, receive any words of encouragement or appreciation, and the fact that she kept this shows how much Adrian's words meant to her.

“Mr. Monk Goes to a Fashion Show” is one of my favorite episodes because of how happy the ending is with Maria getting her son back and how funny it is with how Randy and Natalie are when trying to be more fashionable.😊😂❤ I also love that it became a recurring thing that Stottlemeyer figures out a key clue/solve when he’s drinking.😂😅

It's not that consistent. A lot of times in the early part of the series he was perfectly happy to get Monk involved, and conversely unhappy later on whenever he realized he would have to cater to Monk's special needs. In this one he's a bit hostile because he'd already reached a conclusion before Monk arrived, but he's also okay with it being overturned.

15:35 -- Monk is wrong about the "whoever/whomever." The note begins, "To whomever." The word "to" is a preposition here, with "whomever" being the object of the preposition, and thus in the objective case: whomever. The writers flubbed and NOBODY caught it.

@@invertedexistence Tell that to Monk. He would not find this grammatical error acceptable. But what really makes it egregious is that it is supposed to be a correction of someone else's grammar. THE WHOLE POINT of that piece of dialogue is that Monk's very special peculiarities make him notice a minor grammatical mistake. BUT IT'S NOT A MISTAKE. Which makes Monk sound like an idiot instead of a savant.
