Monk Catches Stottlemeyer's Shooter | Monk

Mr. Monk to the rescue 😲🕵️
Season 3, Episode 9 "Mr. Monk Takes His Medicine": A woman commits suicide and minutes later Captain Stottlemeyer is shot nearby. Monk needs to determine if the two events are related, but his new medication has turned him into an obnoxious jerk who can't concentrate on the case.

Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

I love Randy, but I think it would have been really neat, if he had gotten more moments to shine. When he's saying really goofy stuff, you can't help but like him, but when the situation is grim, he's doing a stellar job like in this episode and you can't help but love him.

Yeah. From what it seems he's good with regular police work, it's just he struggles more so with the investigative aspect. He can handle himself in chases and shootings but in terms of searching for a suspect not so much.

@@shawnuelOne of my favorite episodes is the one where Randy is feeling down because he feels like a bit of a failure, so while he's asleep Monk tells him, subliminally, "Here's what happened...", so that when he wakes up he is able to put the pieces together himself and solve the case. That's a good friend.

Monk gets into crime action scenes a lot more often than Columbo did. In this case, the mystery almost takes a second seat to a mad scramble, to figure out who shot an officer.

Colombo’s premise made it harder for true crime action scenes. The back and forth of point of view with the killer and Columbo made crime action scene impossible. Also remember, Columbo has to often catch the criminal with slacking to get evidence while monk is more about explaining the case. If you like crime action scenes watch burn notice

The way I see Monk is that if it's people he trusts and love like Randy straddlemyer Sharona Benji his in-laws and then comes Natalie and Julie he's okay with them hugging him as I've always seen them mostly hugging him an areas where he's covered by his clothes and they respect him for who is and once again he does trust them and knows quote on quote where their hands have been. But you also see in some episodes that monk doesn't even hesitate to grab Benji or Julie to protect them so while he is germophobic he isn't to the point that he's not above protecting the people he cares about and does forget about his germophobia but it still affects him but again will protect the people he cares about. Hence monk chasing after a garbage truck to get the proof of the shooter that attacked strottlemeyer's wife so he can deal with his germs depending on the situation. Like in many episodes you see straddlemyer and monk hugging or just do the affectionate men hug I don't know how you just you would call it. But I have noticed that captain seems to be the one that monk doesn't have a problem with him touching him or hugging him but again they were former partners so straddlemeyer knows more about monk than anybody else.
