i got a new dell all in one pc at work recently and i was telling my tech guy i needed a webcam for video chatting coworkers because my old computer had one built into the top of the screen. he walked up pressed the top of my pc and the camera popped up, i was amazed lol. works great

I had a really weird realization this episode. Jono usually gets addressed when he's behind camera... But when I've seen him on screen before, I don't think he's ever been directly addressed by name. I couldn't have told you Jono's name by seeing his face or name him on sight. Could have sworn he was two completely different people.

My LG 5k monitor, which is a few years old, has a webcam + speakers built in. Never used it until March last year now really useful!

Best unboxing ever 😂 Please make sure Riley makes more of them 😊

I really thought this was an AIO computer with all of that I/O they have in the monitor.

I got more excited than I maybe should when they mentioned it's got a built in KVM - that's actually really nice.

Dell's ultrawides have had that for years, they also charge up to 100W over the usb-c. And if you use their driver, you can also assign a keyboard shortcut to switch between inputs. The one downside of this screen (that they didn't mention) is that if you switch between computers, it also switches the RJ45 so you lose network. So for switching often it's not that usable to connect the network to it.

Not the monitor I was looking for, but stayed for the whole video haha, this review was golden. Loved the humour, hopefully the gadgets I’m looking for make it to this channel!

this is like the perfect monitor for my parents. no frills but highly functional. especially for my dads engineering work and how they both sit down together for video calls

They've done this popup camera in their AIOs like the 5480 for a while now. It's really nice to see them properly doubling down on work focussed features though.

my hp monitor from about 2008 indicates that the webcam part isn't that new, it just seems unpopular for various reasons, such as when the monitor reaches ten or so years in age the high-quality webcam is now shit tier if it can even work w modern software

He changed the settings for not going to sleep or hibernate when the lid is closed All laptops automatically adjust for the resolution of the external monitor when the lid is closed unless specified in Windows Settings

My acer t272hul already had one ages ago, also it was a 27 inch touchscreen, and oh damn it is awesome as a secondary

I should mention that there were already monitors with built-in webcams, including the ViewSonic model vx2255wmb, which if I recall correctly, had a VGA resolution webcam.

I've got the same funcionality on Philips 346P1CRH - KVM, Windows Hello,PD90W,HDR,100Hz and integrated webcam. It doesn't have Teams certification but it works just fine.

The last time I was this early for a video, Linus was still...wait, I've never been this early.

Exactly, my parents are currently using a 24 inch Dell monitor that has a built-in webcam that is probably 10 years old. This isn't a new idea, but they did seem to disappear for a while.

1:47 Yes, don't lift the monitor out. Just open up the packaging a bit so that you can fit the stand in. When The stand is locked in place, lift up the monitor from the box with the stand attached (holding on to the stand). Easier and more safe.

@@trapical The one I have vertical actually is an ultrawide curved monitor. Its because it was my old main monitor and I ended up getting a higher resolution ultrawide curved as my main later on. Personally I think its really useful in vertical position, when im gaming its great for having wiki pages up or discord, I can view tons of content or chat history while im playing.

This is an interesting monitor IMO since it needs only 2 cables for so much functionality. This is probably very useful for people that do a lot of meetings and also have to move around with their laptops.
