    I bought a pair of these after getting a little jaded with my Wharfedale Diamond 230 floorstanders. I booked a listening for the Dali Oberon 3 initially, but ended up doing an A-B listening against these. The Oberon had a more full midrange as you state, but the bass, soundstage, and musicality of the 100's won me over. Another factor was how good these speakers sounded with older pre-digital recordings, something I had not expected. A small EQ tweak to the lower mids and these speakers work really well with my NAD 2200 power amp. Really fun speakers and plenty of bass for their size. These are quite heavily discounted here in the UK ATM, got mine for £280. Recommended for anyone who is getting a little fatigued with overly analytical or recessed speakers.

    I just got a pair of the Silver 100 7G delivered today - still waiting on stands though. I was torn between those and the Elac UBR 62 at the same price point, but here in the UK the Elac's are still pre order. Maybe one day I'll get a pair of debut reference bookshelves as the recommendations on Andrew Jones' designs are awesome. Keep the reviews coming, great channel thanks Randy

    Thanks for reviewing these speakers with the 8" woofers. I have a perhaps wrongly biased prejudice against speakers with smaller woofers (smaller than 8"). Long ago had a pair of Pinnacle PN-8+ two way speakers with 8"polypropylene woofers and dual duct ports. Really loved the bass.

    paid about 450 usd for these on sale . setup in my lounge for music/tv/game/movies they are great . lots of bass , lots of dynamics , forward detailed top is perfect for movies and dialog . mid detail does lack because of the 8 inch driver so they are not a warm and fuzzy music music speaker but for mixed use they are great . especially at sale prices

    I've been searching a detailed and trustworthy review with regard to MA Bronze 100 (6G) loudspeakers to decide to connect to my faithful NAD C 355BEE int. amp. to compose a secondary system. This is a rather uncommonly well explained and informative review, and definitively helped me. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for this review. I was searching for a pair of speakers for my audio set. My previous speakers were ok, kind of, but I was always playing around with the EQ to make them sound well, depending on the kind of music. After listening to this review and some others about these speakers, I finally decided to buy them. And I'm loving them! They are very versatile, and now I only have to lower the bass one decibel at most on my amplifier for some albums.

    Randy!!! Fun, yes fun. I picked these up a few months back when piecing together my 2.0 HiFi system driven by a Yamaha CR620 & Topping E30. Music 1st, movies 2nd and yes fun, dynamic and pleasing to look at with the grilles off. I debated between these & the Elac Reference & am happy I went this way. I'm the kind of listener who prefers a fun & lively sound over analytic & these match my taste. I thought your review was spot on & I always look forward to hearing what you have to say. For anyone after an entry(ish) speaker for a 2.0 because they cant or dont want a sub, these may fit the bill. Great on artists like The XX, Billie Eilish or even big sounds like Pink Floyd or Metallica S&M. Thx again Randy, good stuff.

    One pretty important thing you didn't mention is the screw in the back attaches to the back of the woofer and holds the woofer against the enclosure as well as providing some bracing. I just purchased these and set them up and had a weird resonance in the midbass so I was messing around and noticed that the screws come pretty loose out of the box, at least on mine, so I tightened that up and it cleaned things up nicely. They also come with a foam plug for the port which reduced bass decay time noticeably while only reducing extension a tiny bit. I listen to a fair amount of EDM so for me bass decay time is pretty important but not everyone is even going to notice a difference with their music. I also have a 15" Rythmik in the same room so losing a little extension isn't an issue at all.

    Hey Randy, a nice speaker review once more. I wanted to ask your opinion about the following : So i recently set up my first proper Hi-Fi system consisting of Triangle Borea Bro3 as speakers, Atoll In50SE as amplifier ( it is a solid state A/B amp with 50w for 8 ohms with a tube sound signature ), the SoundblasterX AE-5 an 100 euro-ish PC ESS SABRE DAC/AMP and it is set up in a pretty small 10 square meter square-shaped room ( it's the best i have unfortunately ) on my desktop forming a 1-meter equilateral listening triangle and with around 50 cm distance from the rear walls and about 80-100cm from the side walls. My problem is that i am a bit disappointed with the system's bass output. The overall sound signature result is on the warm side of neutral which is what i was expecting ( and wanted ) based on most of the reviews i went through but the BRO3's bass is reported to be strong and satisfying which is something i never noticed even after more than three months of at least 5 hours of daily usage ( gaming/movies/music ), meaning that they are well broken in by now. One thing i must mention though is that i haven't placed them on proper speaker stands yet ( i will buy some Iso Acoustics ones in the future ) and instead i used some stacks of heavy thick old books to raise them to ear level so that could be a culprit there ( aside from the cheap DAC ). When i was deciding on the speakers, i must say i had noticed the Monitor Audio Bronze 100 and their unusually large 8-inch woofers but i thought that the BRO3s bass output would be enough for this small room of mine ( I should note that since i am not a bass maniac or anything i wanted to try to be content from the bookshelf speaker's bass without using a subwoofer ). Now especially after watching this review i have begun thinking to sell the BRO3s and get theese instead and see what happens. The only thing i care about is ballsy full-bodied enjoyable fun-packed non-treble exaggerated sound at low to moderate listening db levels as most of my usage is low recording quality gaming/movies and death/black metal. I would really appreciate if you have any thoughts to share about this peculiar situation of mine. Thanks !!!

Trying out RP600 now with Reisong A10 (cheaper and more bass) but ultimately think MA is more “quality “, I just wish they could get their sensitivity up a little. Another great review, Randy. Huge fan of MA and have owned loads of Bronze, some Silver and I use vintage Gold GR20 in my lounge. The last have had a serious upgrade to the crossover, using Mundorf Supreme gear, similar to the sort you find in the GR Research kits. Anyhoo, I’m happy I picked up the previous model, Bronze 2, for my study. The smaller bass unit and forward firing port work better in the compact room. These are very similar to the Silver RS1 I tried, which were slightly overblown in the same space.

    Thank you for providing super detailed reviews in a fun way, which can be easily understood by Non-audiophiles like myself. Quick question: What do you recommend between Monitor Bronze 100 and Q Acoustics 3030i for 70% Music (Mostly classic rock, Indian instrumental and Jazz on Vinyl with Audio Technica LP120 turntable, and some pop and EDM on streaming with WiiM Mini) and 30% Movies(4K smart tv) played through Marantz pm6007 amplifier? I do enjoy bass as long as it doesn't result in fatigue after listening for an hour or two. The room size is 15ft by 15ft. Alternatively, do you have a different setup recommendation for my requirement, within a similar price point ? Thanks in advance.

    @@joelopez7459 I feel like people think they need a center more than they really do. If you set up your front L and R speakers right they will resolve the center without having an actual speaker. I've had better luck with this phantom center setup than I have with a physical center. The only reason I would recommend a physical center is for multiple people listening. Even then it depends. A physical center can pull voices below or above the screen (depending on where the center is positioned in relation to the screen). I always recommend trying the phantom center first, and then if it doesn't work, then go buy or build a center. If you think you may need a center, then go with a speaker series that offers a center, like GR Research does in most of its series. You want your center to be voiced the same as your L and R.

  • @DougMen1
    @DougMen13 жыл бұрын

    Their woofers and tweeters are both CCAM, which is "ceramic coated aluminum magnesium". BTW, I HATE the oval grilles! MA Bronze speakers from the past don't have a lot of depth, because they're voiced rather forward, which I LOVE, because it makes the vocals and lead guitars that are dead center sound right in the room with you, hanging in the air in front of the speakers. That's one of the things that makes them so much fun. Even if they aren't as neutral as some other speakers, they always sound like they're actually having fun. Your description of these makes me fear that MA are now voicing them like so many other speakers, with a suckout in the midrange. B&W and Klipsch have been doing this for years, and it helps them sell a boatload of speakers, because they give the impression of more detail, and they jump out at you in quick comparisons in a store. But, then when you get them home they become less satisfying than a more balanced and neutral speaker, like KEF or Wharfedale. I think the smaller Bronze 50, with a smaller woofer, might be less like that. That's why I often like a 5" woofer over a 6.5" one, because many times they have a fuller midrange than the larger woofers. I think the 8" woofer is sacrificing midrange for bass, and the 50s are $475

    I received my SILVER 100 7G about 2 months ago, "MA" managed to solve the problem of detailing the mids in these new speakers, it is impressive how the mids are prominent, articulate and very detailed in these new speakers even keeping the 8 ", if you're not careful they can even bother you due to the excess detail in the mids!

    disagree with the bracing bracing a speaker doesn't make it better, it's a lossless cabinet a lot of beneficial properties of having a lossless cabinet. You just have the right amount of bracing where is needed and hopefully they've done that. Make sure you have open stands with lossless cabinet not solid stands filled with any heavyweight

    I brought a pair, I have had them a week, and I don't like the sound. The mid range details are not there, the bass while it goes low it actually produces less in quantity than a smaller pair of Polk RT35 speakers from 20 years ago. I'm going to see if they just need breaking in, but so far I'm not unpressed with the sound for music but I like them for watching the television. That said, visually they are stunning.

    I compare your remarks here to the ones you made about the SVS Prime, the Q 3030i, the Polk R100 and pick any Elac and I'm confused as to why I would want these. You compare sound and build quality to several sub $200/pr speakers like Jamo 803, and Sony Cs whatever 5s. All considered decent at their price point but this is a $600/pr speaker. OK they're a "fun" speaker that plays large but at $600 compared to how you've reviewed other $600/pr speakers it's hard to see how they fit from any value perspective.

    @@thomasward00 The Bronze 2 (the older equivalent to these in the Bronze range) was $400 for many years. I think moving from a 6.5" to an 8" woofer is a mistake, because, although it might have better bass, the midrange suffers too much, IMO

  • @Gary_M

    @Gary_M

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@DougMen1 They probably still make a 6.5" model. MA has been making bookshelves with 8" woofers for years, I remember looking at some even before they started with the cereal bowl woofers when they still had the phase plug design. But you're right, designing the crossover to go from an 8" woofer straight to a 1" tweeter is tricky to pull off. Monitor Audio has years of practice with it though. Silver level is where they start to get good.
