Leaves are almost completely gone. Overall, the plant is nearly three-foot tall. Can the stems be trimmed back, as if starting over with a smaller plant. If not, I understand. Just feels tragic.

If it's cool and has a lot of leaves on it and there's a a taller green branch cut an inch below that bracket off just push down lightly and and get a water bottle cut it in half fill it with bottle water and put it in the window for 3 months it will feel like forever but check too see if it needs water. And happy planting

This and the peperomia obtusifolia were the first house plants I bought. I suffer from PTSD and depression, and caring for them helps cheer me up. I keep them in my work space to keep me motivated when I feel like I just want to melt into the floor. I have more plants now, but the pachira and the peperomia are just more special to me. Both are growing very nicely, and the peperomia sprouts flowers quite frequently. I love them 💚

These 2 plants have given me a hard time. I’ve killed 2 money trees and 1 peperomia because I couldn’t figure out the lighting or water. I now have 2 money trees in a north facing window that are a bit on the dry side(I hope it works) because the south facing and west facing window was too much. And I took the peperomia out of the west facing window and placed it in the the south facing window and I water her when the soil is dry (which is about weekly), and she seems to be happy. These are not starter plants in my opinion so you are definitely a brave soul.

@@kayladilulloI thought for sure that my cat had killed mine but I found out that the money tree likes to be pruned. That's how they grow really well. You can basically trim the plant down to a few inches above the hard brown trunks in the Spring and it will survive and thrive. It lets all of the energy go into trunk growth. I'm pretty sure the only way to kill these plants is too much/not enough sun and over watering it.

She received when it was a small plant but then she transfer and left the plant. I took upon myself to take care of it. 8 years later its a full grown trees. Because its too tall and already hitting the ceiling , My work manager want to either i left it outside the office ( which stupid people might stick trash on it ) or take it home. Got one for my 65th Birthday from my wonderful sister Brenda. It was wet when it was delivered, so I let it totally dry out and adjust to the new room. Leaf stress is beginning, so I'm increasing humidity and beginning to learn watering and care. Such a tiny pot for a 4' plant - and it might be mostly coco peat in there. I see some new growth at top, so I'll assess roots - and get it in a slightly larger pot this week. I mostly have succulents now. ..and neglect is better than too much fuss with them, LOL. Perfect for me!

Living in Southern Ontario Canada, I take my Money Tree outside in the late spring. It's been a hot, and humid summer for us, and I have been watering my plant once a week, and fertilizing it once every 3 weeks. It's grown over a foot during these past 2 months, and is very healthy looking. The secret to these plants is, not to over water them. In the past I let it sit out in the open, not shielding it from the rain, and thus it got water logged. I know better now. Finally I got a green thumb. :-)

I was gifted one of these in 2012 that was the same size as the ones in this video. It is now over 7 feet tall. The braiding has come undone but it is a beautiful tree. It is kept near a window bright indirect light during the winter months and lived happily outside in dappled shade in spring and summer. When I repotted this year I was surprised to find about 3 inch roots in comparison to the 7 feet of stemming. It also just survived a spider mite infestation from some plants I am rehabbing. Such a resilient and easy tree. Makes for a lovely jungle feel in my home.

I’ve had and love this tree . It’s my favorite. But I had so many that died ;( over watering seems to be the killer . I water the one I have now with about 1-2 tablespoons every other week . I also used clay pebbles on the bottom of the pot and cactus soil /orchid soil . And decor rocks on top of soil . So far so good .

I recently started bottom watering all of my plants to control the fungus gnats and I just realized that she doesn’t like bottom watering. Like you said she likes to almost dry out and be watered through! I’ve also just moved her back in a window yesterday! She thrived when I had her in a window before! She just started not to look happy, skimpy and browning. I recently moved so I've been finding the right spot for all of my plants. I also took her plant buddy and moved her, which is a tall-growing succulent! I've been feeling like they miss each other!😂How interesting! They grew crazy together. I'm putting them back together! This video helped! Thank for the confirmation on my plant-tuition! She's my favorite because she is low maintenance and grows beautifully!

I tried ice cubes and the leaves yellowed. So now I am back to watering. The soil is very dry 2” inches below the surface and it has some leaves that are yellow and spotty, while 60% of the other leaves are nice and green. I totally don’t know if I am over or under watering! HELP! Can I send pix so you can see?

jacob bernhardt thank you. I’m not using ice cubes. I water it when the soil is dry 1-2” below surface. Some of the leaves typically have yellow/brown spots at that point. So I think I am under-watering it. Does that make sense? My goal is to find the correct watering cadence so that leaves stay a dark green without getting the yellow/brown spots. Most of what I’ve seen on YT talk about over watering rather than under watering. Help! Thx

@@haroldfox1535 it could even be a combination of lack of water and shortage of light, mine had issues with relocation after I bought it, I had it in too much bright light and some leaves had brown / yellow spots too , I water it every now and then ( once a week and sometimes even 2 weeks , sometimes I just spray the toplayer every other day instead of fully watering it ) So far it grew alot of healthy new leaves, I cut off the brown leaves now and hope this will spark a 2nd wave of new growth, I hope this will help a little

I even cut the top off of the toppers part. I threw the cutting into some water. It did grow some roots. Planted that and it's doing really well. Can't wait until spring when I can do another cutting.

This video was in my recommended and it makes me so so sad. Just last month I got this beautiful money tree from my grandparents for my birthday, took it with me to the dorms where I live doing my studies. But last week, all the schools and unies were cancelled due to corona virus and I had a little time to pack and left for home. It was supposed to be only for 2 weeks, but since the situation is only getting worse, it will be for more than a month. So I know my plants (I also got dracena marginata) won't survive all this time without water and it makes me so sad they're just dying there alone and I feel so helpless :(

@@Adoubless Oh, it's not that I would need to sneak in. I'm allowed to go there, some students even stayed in dorms. But I'm home now (in the other city) and we're not allowed to leave our cities. And even if we were, the money I would have to spend on the bus ticket to get there is way more than what plants cost so it's not exactly profitable (I would also risk getting infected with corona). On top of everything, a terrible earthquake hit that city where my plants are so I'm not even sure in what condition they are now - there's a high chance they have fallen on the floor :(
