I googled this and can not find what you’re talking about and I’d like to understand how that statement relates to ethics. Does it mean the sign points one way and it will never ever walk the other way regardless of temptation, and that’s ethically how people should be too?

@@JopzzSD It is a translated quote from the german ethic philosopher Max Scheler. Apparently he once was asked, after visiting a brothel, how that can be explained with the ethics he teaches. Small detail but there actually could be 4 queens in the hand (if we're talking texas hold em)! Player that folds before Gerard holds 2 queens. The man with two pair can have one queen in his hand and another on the board. Gerard can complete his queen high flush using the same queen on the board (without holding one directly in his hand). However, although the action in the hand is possible, it is still pretty unlikely.

Exactly. Say it's Q clubs 7 clubs 5 clubs on board and he has J of clubs 10 of clubs, it's still technically considered at Q high flush. If somebody else has a flush smaller than the Q on board, say 3 of clubs 4 of clubs, they both have Q high flushes, but they go to 2nd highest card, 3rd highest card, etc.

Gerard's account is possible, if one of the Q was on the board and not in Gerard's hand. Saying you have a "Queen-high flush" doesn't necessarily mean the Q was in Gerard's hand. E.g., Gerard could have had a 9 and 10 of that suit. Also, the player with two pair presumably had Q6 in his hand, meaning there had to a Q and a 6 on the board, the same Q that made Gerard's flush.

Mike said he was kicked out of Atlantic City for counting cards, however, New Jersey law prevents casinos from banning players, unless they are caught cheating. Counting cards is not cheating, but simply a strategy that allows a player to legally decrease the house edge, and therefore is not a bannable offense. Even if he was caught counting cards, the casinos would be unable to do anything about it. If he was caught counting card in Vegas, however, they could ban him from the casino completely, as casinos are considered private clubs. However, even in Vegas it is more likely the casino would ban him from playing blackjack, but allow him to play any other game, as there's no way to legally beat the house edge in any other casino game.

Shuffle/Ace tracking is a technique used by some high level card counters, which could potentially gain you a small edge in poker, but shuffle tracking is something completely different than counting.

I think the point was that it was reasonable but unlikely. Moreover, it was told to him by a man who Harvey knows, trusts and respects to remember and understand complex portions of cases or laws. Also, he reacted and moved way to nervous during that scene, enough so that it could have also clued Mike in.
