@@Joao-id4dn that's a bold statement joao just the back in black album seems riff loaded and dependant, my favorite was noise pollutiion riff. Eliminator comes to mind as well my pick was i got the six!!! Blizzard of oz followed by madman all the way to end of decade would also seem riff laced good example is bark at moon or course crazy train which possibly is as recognizable a riff ever created, i really don't know much of glam rock or pop but mabey that brand didn't rely on riffs actualy billy jean had an eddy van riff which also brings in all van halens 80s work , didn't Panama have a riff oh also all the staggering work from aerismith good example is when the lightning strikes or hangman jury or choose your favorite.. I don't know a decade that opened with blizzard of oz and ended with açpetite for destruction seems difficult to imagine a decade where guitar riffs were dead they say long live rock

@@iomibestlefty ok, you have a point. I never thought of the songs you mentioned as defining the 80s, these hard rock bands seemed more like a sideshow to me , the center stage being occupied by pop artists like The Police, U2, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, etc. But maybe thats just because i was not much into hard rock .

Definitely not. This riff was reminiscent of the early 70s. The 80s was not a guitar riff era

I watched that old video in the background on MuchMusic when videos were just starting to be born. It is not as slick as today, but I love it just like I did when I first saw it In the OLDEN days! Oh no, I’ve dated myself!

Esa iluminación, ese sonido que te va envolviendo, ese riff que mata cualquier punsacion en tu cuerpo, esa batería al intro, ese humo, genios puros, adelantados al tiempo, son unos extraterrestres, los mejores.

Saw them once at a "free Nelson Mandela" concert in Wembley. Nobody plays guitar like Mark. Clapton is just a beginner.

Genius
that build up to the opening rift.... it's as close as you'll ever get musically to the build up too shooting your load. lol uugghhh so good.
la primera vez q los escuche, no podia creer q ese tio con una fender tocada con dedos y cantando a la vez, haciendo solos increibles fuera verdad. Era verdad y se llama Mark Knofler. Aun siguen con los mejores. Q Dios lis bendiga.
Soooo awesome!!!
Comments? Just ..... brilliant. A guy who just LOVES his music not himself.
Precioso tema, como todos los de Los Dire,💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Einfach nur hammer geil!!!
lol I like how he slipped up and said "Faggot" instead of something else ahaha (he corrected it the 2nd time but still), rare moment there. Love that riff, its one of reasons I started playing guitar!

Can someone please explain what kind of guitar that marks guitar is? 🎸
Question: What guitar is Knopfler playing here? Is it a Kramer? or did other brands make guitars without the tuning knob end of the neck? I have seen Eddie plays one in the 5150 of VH era. If anyone knows I would appreciate it ! Thanks
