Thanks for the video, I did the change of the power steering pump and the water pump. Some tips from France 😉: -Take off the battery and the battery holder, it will be easier -i couldn't crack the 18mm of the steering pump, so I cracked the 22mm screw holding strongly the steering pump. Then I didn't change the screw (because I couldn't). -quite easy to take off the water pump, you have to first take off the air intake plastic protection, then 4 screws allow you to take off the water pump.

Hi I have a 2007 Mondeo St 2.2 tdci, it was making that sort of knocking noise. I removed the serpentine belt and started it with the belt removed and the knocking sound disappeared. I can say with certainty that the noise was coming from the serpentine belt tensioner. Apparently even a new tensioner will make that noise. This comes from the rubber sort-of grommet where the tensioner is pivoted. I am figuring out a way of replacing the rubber grommet with some stiff bush. Your video is quite informative, keep up the good work.

I have a MK3 Mondeo ST with the 2.2 TDCi and I had the PAS pump changed a few months ago as I lost all power steering when turning around to get onto my drive. I had the work done by a garage but the steering did remain slightly notchy for the first few drives and there was. A noise on lock but that cleared after a few drives as well. It’s normal for the MK4 Mondeo to make a noise on full lock (I have one of those as well) but not the MK3. I was worried that it could have been a faulty pump as I bought a recon one but as I said the problems did go away quite soon.

Hi, excellent video!!! I have repaired my steering pump (and water pump) following it. Thank you!! After I fit the steering pump, I found it was leaking as your car. I cut an inch in the pipe but it is still leaking. Did you have more problems after you cut the pipe? And as the pipe is smaller, it is in contact with egr's pipe, is there any problem with it? Thank you

I wondered if it the tensioner that is making some noise. I don’t like the way it moves under pressure. Could be wrong but that’s what I think is causing the remaining noise. Good video, keep it up.

Do you know anything about the abs system on these cars have to keep the 30amp fuse out as the abs pump is constantly running even with key out. suspect the abs module but no guides/info I can find for this car same as your dad's car?

The noise of full lock is the pressure relief balance within the pump which is normal mate. All power steering pumps make that noise when bleeding off the pressure to stop you popping the seals in the rack.

Hello! The PS pump not noisy, normally it is silent. It noisy if air sucked in and the pump cutting bubles, this is the noise. Overfill the tank a bit and or check the tank meanwhile usage if the returning fluid foamy or not...

The noise you had was the air in the system. You might have got away with sorting the pipe.out and funding the pump was actually ok. I had the same issue on my focus and after getting the pump off found it was only the Teflon seal that had started leaking.

They love to shoe horn the stuff in on those Mondeos. Noise from the hydraulics at full lock is normal on Fords. The noisiest was the Mk1 Mondeo. Mark 2 Mondeo and Transits are pretty noisy too. The pump doesn't look great. I wonder if it wasn't the pipe that was bad and it was sucking a little air in and causing extra noise. Tensioner was pooched too. That power steering hose would probably set you back £60-£70 at the dealers. Bad News: I don't think your water pump is long for the world.

Good, when my pump explose, all the line was K.O. and it was more expensive. If you find any leak there, go ahead and change it directly. you change yours at the good time. This car is very capricious, the type of Oil that you put there make can make a great difference. Buy Oil from Ford, for that specific Model, but bleed off the previous oil there you will notice the difference.
