Culverts and overflow pipes scare the crap out of me, it's like a phobia. I remember looking down the 48 inch pipe from our boat in the lake at the house growing up. With water going down around the edges you could go right up to it and look down, about 30 feet and then it 90ed and went out the back of the dam. The stuff of nightmares! I remember all the sticks and stumps, dead turtles at the bottom of that 90, if the water was up the chute of water coming out the bottom of that pipe was terrifying! It gives me anxiety just thinking about it and the thought of getting sucked down in there. I had a 12 inch under the road culvert snatch a shovel out of my hand. Educate your kids and tell them how dangerous pipes and flood waters are.
