Mon Laferte was born in Chile. She grew up on a very improvish part of Chile where her home didnt have doors and parts of the house didnt have roof. Her father left her n her mother when she was 6 yo. Her grandma was a singer and started grooming her. She left Chile with her then boyfriend to Mexico to advance her career as both entered a competition. In the midst her boyfriend broke up with her and went back to Chile. Alone in Mexico she placed 3rd in the show and recorded an album and did some TV work but nothing really happened. She fell in love again and after a couple of years he left her and she was devastated. She contemplated suicide. This song was written about that break up as she also mentions in the song her contemplating suicide. She was in a dark place for a year. She composed many songs and she dyed her hair black, got tattoos, and changed her style of music. Prior to this the world new her as Monserate Laferte but when she recorded her new album with her new style she came out as Mon Laferete.

Well well well... U finally arrived to the Mon Laferte station. Be aware of stay a lot down here, because she is absolutely the best female singer in Chile in the last few years. 😌

She's one of my favorite, favorite vocalists. She's a true musical artist. I definitely recommend reacting to A Crying Diamond, except it is very dark and triggering if you're not ready for it, in the sense that it's about SA, but it's her revealing her own dark past getting into the music business. And I think it's her only English song iirc. Maybe there are more but that one stands out because of how powerful it is.

Highly recommend watching the live studio music videos for her Norma album as well as her other stuff as well!

She's one of the few that gets it I guess. Almost every reaction to this goes one of two ways. They either miss everything because they're closing their eyes pretending to be into it for the views, and on their phone due to their adhd culture. Or they shut down like something bad happened and can't handle it. There has been so much lost to history with how performances used to be like this at every lounge or night club. Before they had their dub crap that made the place about shutting out rather than feeling real music and a powerful performance. This is probably the last glimpse of it they'll ever have.
