Yesss indeed, Mom' Mabley was a true legend! My parents always listened to her records and cracked up laughing! Thanks for the memories! She was the queen of comedy.

GROWING UP IN GHETTO WE LISTEN TO MOMS MALEY LAUGHTER AND SOUL AND BLUES MUSIC GOT US THEW AS FAMILY MIGHT HAVE BEEN POOR BUT AT TIME WE WERE CLOSE AS KNITTED SOCKS ..FOLKS PULLED TOGETHER IF ANOTHER GOT IN TROUBLE WE ALL HELPED OUT PAY THERE RENT WITH PARTYS GROUP POT LUCK DINNERS.. EVERY CHILD NO MATTER THE RACE HAD ONE GRANDS.. EVERY CHILD WAS FAMILY IN HOOD..

I just love me some Moms Mabley when I first recognized her when I was a child I was roundabout everything and she still my item my girl I am enjoying this

I remember sneaking to listen when my parents had friends over and they would play these records! This was considered to racy for kids to listen to. Moms would be Shook at what comedy is now.

I grew up seeing Moms on tv. It was always exciting when she was on. So funny! You had to see her! No teeth!

I haven't heard Moms in years, brings back memories.

Thanks for posting another great lady in addition to Nancy Wilson, I only got to see Moms one time at the Fisher Theater in Detroit

Geez, what a step back into my childhood. Loved this funny lady and remembering a time when we all watched TV together ~ the whole family. I did grow up at the right time and in the right generation.

I saw some old footage of Mom's when she starting performing, and had her upper dentures in. We had all of her albums. She was great!

My goodness... I consider myself lucky to have been born in the era of Pryor, Williams, Moms, Carson and his relationship with comedians, Rickles, Dangerfield, Wanda, Hicks, and even Cosby in his earlier years. And Steve Martin. Shoot, probably forgetting someone but they just don't seem to be as funny these days as the pioneers were, E. Murphy too. I guess we all think our times were the best. I be 65 this week.

Brandy Broadus Most all comedians did gigs at prisons. Entertainers made it a point to do shows at Prisons. Today you find them more likely to be doing time there than performing.
