    You are very talented. I learned a lot from watching you. The bag is beautiful. I'm watching this at 3 am and am getting a little bleary eyed so I will have to watch it again. I mostly work with leather but will definitely use some of your techniques when making the linings. I'm retired and make bags for my wife and the girls in her family. Thanks so much for your great videos.

    @@CountryCowDesigns hi there, totally off topic, just hoping for your advice, for filming a sewing project ,especially if you want a overhead view or aerial view of fabric under the presser foot what tripod or mount would you recommend? .. thank you in advance

    I bought one from Amazon called the Neewer photo studio 3.9m 2-in-1 light stand. I bought a phone holder to go on the end of it and I use that for overhead shots. It’s fantastic and cost about £50 in total. I had a cheaper one previously and it was rubbish and wouldn’t stay upright 😆

    @@CountryCowDesigns ok thank you it had like a boom pole on it with weight/sand bag to keep the balance? You only put phone on it? Have you ever put your camera on it ?

  • @CountryCowDesigns

    No I’ve not tried it with an a camera as I only use my phone for filming but it does have the bag if you need to counterweight it so I assume it will be ok for heavier objects. The bag comes empty so you can fill it with the amount of weight you need. But you’d need a camera holding adaptor to go on the end 😁

    I have the same issue sometimes. I have figured out now most of the pulls that go with most of the zip tapes but I do find it odd that they don’t all fit each other. I’m assuming that some of the manufacturers use slightly different criteria for their zips 🤷‍♀️

    I ordered the hardware set from a shop in the US. I’m at the step to add the zip end on the exterior top zipper. I can’t find the zip end! I’ve been careful to keep everything in the bag and only pull out what I need for the next step so I think it didn’t come in the kit I bought. What can I use to finish the zipper without that piece of hardware.

    I’m finally getting round to giving this a go, having watched the video a number of times! In the first part of the tutorial when showing the pieces you’ve prepared it looks as though you’ve cut the base stabiliser (piece N) out of the foam. Have I got that right? I wasn’t sure if that was an option.

  • @CountryCowDesigns

    I can’t remember if I used foam for the base or not that time, but I definitely have done on other occasions and it’s been great 👍 😁

    @@CountryCowDesigns Thanks for that, Jo. Much appreciated. And having started sewing I now have another question. I apologise if the answer is obvious, but I get easily confused! - I decided to have a go at sewing the zip in using my ordinary presser foot and moving the needle postion. That worked beautifully, but I got in a tangle over how to work out the 1/4" seam allowance! I ended up just going with the standard markings on my needle plate, but I suspect that means I've used a wider seam allowance than I should have done. A I right?

  • @CountryCowDesigns

    @CountryCowDesigns

    2 жыл бұрын

    It may vary from machine to machine. Mine is automatically 1/4” when I move the needle over and sew a zip with the standard foot. But I’d recommend trying one and then just measuring the seam allowance with a ruler and seeing what it comes out as. That way you’ll know for future reference whether it’s 1/4” or if you need to move the needle to a different position 😁 hope that helps.

    Well I finally completed the bag, but it was a struggle at times, and I got very frustrated with some of my mistakes! A 'for instance' was occasionally forgetting to put the presser foot down when either using the hump jumper (wonderful invention) or my walking foot. Viewed from a distance though, the bag does look stunning;-). Thank you, Jo, for a great pattern and a very helpful tutorial.

  • @CountryCowDesigns

    @CountryCowDesigns

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi Sonja. So some pattern pieces are too big to fit onto one page of paper so they’re split across two pages. You need to cut them out and then stick them together with sellotape where instructed. There should be arrows and a note saying “stick to M2”. Line up the pattern pieces next to each other and stick them together so you end up with one large pattern piece. The size stated on the paper pattern piece is how big it will be once they’re stuck together. I hope that helps 😁

The template though is from the UK, kallosphere.co.uk just search for “tassel” and it will come up.
