It never ceases to amaze me how guys can be so good and building these beautiful scale planes and be so incredibly bad at landing! It is a bit of an artform but there are simple technics as well. Like ground affect. The cushion of air created by wing tip vortices...half the distance from the ground as the wingspan...on average and depending on wing type. (Delta wing for example). Or... not using right rudder on a single engine during take off and using back elevator on tail draggers to GENTLY allow the tail to come up and not nose over. Whether a plane is 2 pounds or 200 tons the same flight dynamics apply! It's all still simple aerodynamics. Some of these guys could really benefit from some real flight training!

@@GayorgVonTrapp Don't worry. Although my native language is not English, I have well understood your mild sarcasm. Unfortunately, most people don't understand what this video is all about. Even very good pilots sometimes have a MOMENT where they either misjudge the situation or their model no longer works correctly. Regarding the undercarriages, I would like to mention that they have a predetermined breaking point so that major damage can be avoided. Some pilots have then probably built this breaking point too unstable.

Thanks for posting these. Man it's a bummer to watch all these go in, and a lot of them it seems there was nothing the pilot could do.
I very much am liking your no-wheels skidder landing. gracias amigos!
Great selection and editing Horst. Oh my - sad to see that (Yak was it) do a nose dive - big ouch, and the impact explosion/fireball too - totaled.. Lots of close calls but most at least fortunately fairly survivable.
thank you for the minimal slow motion!
Perfect, Horst, all thumbs up for the filming and my condolences for the pilots in trouble :)

Just shared this with some of my club trainees. Told them not to lose hope! Even the best get it wrong sometimes!

Wunderbar eingefangen lieber Horst. 2020 kann kommen.

This has to be the most times I've ever shouted "GO AROUND!!!" in the span of 7 minutes 44 seconds.

Would like to see you make some of your great videos of scale non-military RC models, i.e., Antique, Golden Age, Pre-WWII and post WWII general aviation (no-crashes) ( I'm a scale model builder/flyer and somewhat burnt out on warbirds.)

Some really nice saves by pilots with plane problems. I do wonder though why some people dont go round when its all looking a bot out of shape or why some jet pilots elect to still land on a hard runway when they could land on the grass adjacent and probably save a lot of damage to their aircraft
Super
This just makes me feel like I want to spend time on a super realistic model just to make it crash and burn af

RCScaleAirplanes I hope my mild sarcasm is taken with the humour it was meant with. I have the greatest respect for the model builders and pilots but in truth, this puts me off buying such kit because I just know one day fate would catch up with me and my pride and joy 380 Airbus would be in the canal ..... with no undercarriage.
