Moment Royal Navy warship hit by Russian submarine caught on camera

A Royal Navy warship was hit by a Russian submarine while on patrol in the North Atlantic Ocean.
HMS Northumberland had been searching for the submarine after it disappeared from the ship’s radar in the Arctic Circle shortly before the incident took place.
The submarine hit the warship’s sonar - a piece of equipment being towed hundreds of metres behind it, which was fitted with sensitive hydrophones for listening underwater.

Yea captain of UK vessel really messed that one up. Tow is dragged behind ship by a good distance so why he wanted to get above the sub is beyond me. He should have just sent a active ping and enjoyed a cup of tea. Russians would have known they were pegged and could try to improve their craft another day. If course russian captain could have just trying to be cheeky to. But that's going to be a bad day if the screw gets caught in line

Won't be the first time a Russian sub hit a NATO ship. In 1975, a Russian sub collided with USS James Madison at Holy Loch. The Russian sub was supposed to wait outside British waters and trail the Madison in open water. The Russian sub commander decided to go up the clyde and was 300 yards from the US sub base. The Madison started to move and hit the Russian sub. Both subs surfaced, and the Russian sub decided it was time they were not there as they were in British waters and submerged and legged it before the RN could react.

A few decades ago HMS conqueror stole the towed-array off the back of a Soviet sub using a nose mounted set of grabbers and cutters (what an audacious mission!) - the Soviets were thought to have the best towed-array in the world and the Brits apparently learned a lot of valuable secrets from the stolen kit. Today the towed-array developed for the Royal Navy by Thales is considered to be the best (it's not for export sale) - I suspect the Russians wanted a chunk for themselves and got it - Great Britain 1 - Russia 1.

The submarine didn't disappear. It could be seen with the naked eye, the sonar broke for half hour and not even a backup. The submarine directly embarrassed the UK (war ship) The released documents shows it was planed. The UK joke like ship had no pump to remove excess water but plastic dustpans. The main gun broke due to poor workmanship not able to stand wind and rain.

You are talking nonsense. At no point was the Russian submarine visible. The towed array became unusable, but the sonars were still working. During a severe storm water came inside the ship when the gun turret let in water. The gun was still usable and the ships pumps were working, but dust pans and the like were used to remove water from the corridors. You have clearly watched the programme, but not understood what was happening.
