BBC journalist reports from British warship as Russia “fires warning shots” - BBC News
Tensions have escalated sharply between Russia and the United Kingdom, on the seas off the coast of Crimea.
More than 20 Russian aircraft and two coastguard ships were shadowing a British warship, HMS Defender, when the Russians claim they've fired warning shots and dropped bombs in the path of the British ship, accusing it of violating Russian territorial waters. The British deny that account.
Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 and claims the peninsula and its waters are Russian territory. However the UK says HMS Defender was passing through Ukrainian waters, in an internationally recognised route.
The only broadcast journalist on board HMS Defender was from the BBC.
Huw Edwards presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Jonathan Beale, who describes the hostile warnings from Russia and HMS Defender’s response the confrontation.

Not on every warship on some. Only reason there was one on defender was because the last time a British warship entered the Black Sea it got buzzed by Russian jets (HMS Dragon) and it happened again
There is always the risk that the Russian navy would deploy its most potent weapon. Yes, a concrete filled lada fired from a deck mounted catapult which could cause quite a scratch on a British warships paint.

To be honest, having come from a former warzone country. I have realized awhile a go, warfare is a game of multiple dimensional chess, its not just the military effort, but diplomatic and political and to be honest any field that can assist the military effort, i mean look at cyberwarfare, satelites etc. Propaganda, although often associated with totalitarian regimes is well and truly alive in the "free" world. Clearly here the U.K goverment was less than subtle. I mean you really would have to either assume every british warship has an embedded journalist here or this was a direct deal between the BBC and the UK government, BBC gets propaganda channel points here.

I'm confused... [hope you can smell the sarcasm] Also the other side o the story aye? you mean from state-sponsored media orrrrr? let me guess all the tiananmen square anniversaries are fake too? or perhaps hong-kong doesn't exist? Seriously, acting as if the west is the source of all evil doesn't solve any problems, especially when we all know its way deeper than that... ....But yeah I mean, generally, keep doing what you're doing, I'd only say to you: I think you should take time to reflect on the way you think start being peaceful as were all humans at the end of the day regardless or skin colour, beliefs and country your from. Exactly what media wants us to be - divided ;)

What international order? The UN Charter? Have Western countries abide by the UN Charter even once? The United Nations General Assembly and the International Court of Justice under the United Nations both ruled that Britain should return the Chagos Islands to Mauritius and allow the Chagos indigenous people to return to their islands. I would like to ask whether the United Kingdom has complied with a resolution of the United Nations General Assembly and a judgment of the United Nations court? The verdict that the Nansha Islands is not China is not an agency of the United Nations, but a non-governmental organization based in The Hague. As for the United States, the UN Charter is not as good as toilet paper for them.

Crimea and most of the territory of Ukraine belongs to Russia. Another part of Poland. Ukraine is not a country, it could not realize itself like Kazakhstan, Belarus and Azerbaijan.
