Over here I can choose myself (at TaunT I never know what is coming) and I can go deeper into the lyrics from a mental health perspective . I will primarily react as a mom but I am also bringing my years as a mental health counsellor on the table"

Don’t be ashamed of the tears! This is a sledgehammer of a song and if you don’t shed a tear you didn’t get the message the song is sending! If you want something from this band that is a bit less serious they did an excellent cover version of House of the Rising Sun that is definitely worth listening to.

You and me both, brother. The sad truth is that we, their comrades, have failed our brothers and sisters. Period. Full stop. If we don't support and care for them here at home as well as we did downrange, then WE are to blame. WE had to do it over there, wherever, and WE have to continue to do so. Ourselves. Yes, "somebody" should do "something". But we, at least, know how that usually works... Here in N TX, I'm/we're out there at least twice a week, in the camps and regular gathering spots. Generally assisting all, but absolutely seeking vets, who may require a more 'strongly encouraged' change of course. If WE don't, who will..? rl 🤘👹🤘

Saddest part about this video is the fact that it is about 10 years old and things in the US only seem to be getting worse. 22 a day was an approximation when this song came out, currently I have seen estimates of 30-40a day. The Veteran's Adnministration is at best utterly inept and in cases criminally corrupt and veterans are still left without proper care

As a fourth generation vet, I can say only the facts as i have lived. I'm an old divorced vet with TBI and PTSD, that was homeless for 3 years and now exists under a program for homeless vets. I take cold showers and cook on a hot plate because I can't afford to have the gas on. If it wasn't for food boxes and pantries I wouldn't eat. I feel in the governments eyes, 22+ is just liability off the books. I wake up thinking shit still here, yet only God makes that decision and I don't surrender to anything or anyone! That includes the evil one whispering in the back of your mind. The internal battle ( like any other battle ) you might not want to fight it, be in it or want it to continue, but you never ever surrender to it. Just my thoughts on it.

In my country of britian veterans are taken care of our health services provide them with care workers but cause of the PTSD they suffer it can be a very hard job, the police are occasionally called to help calm them down and the cops actually do some good work doing so, I am so disgusted at Americas complete lack of compassion towards those who serve there country and the wives or husbands lack of understanding on how much there husbands or even wives suffer due to what they experienced on the front lines of there countrys conflicts. I’ve been reading a lot of military history books and what soldiers have went through throughout history is bound to be extremely stressful

I also recommended it to you recently. And it's emotional for me as a vet. You're not a cry baby. It brings tears to my eyes as a former red beret and infantry recon platoon so hard core KL. Emotions are okay. You are alive and human. You are not a rock. For me it's hard one to watch because i have seen it and have seen the aftermath of war. Lost friends, seen guys derail back from missions and even end up in jail for murder. One of my close army friends. And I trusted him completely because he served in my unit. If you haven't served, you do not understand this. When your life depends on trust between members of a unit, you are fully committed. He was the last one i would think is gonna kill a young woman. It was a life changer for me. And not easy to get over that and 20 years later I'm not over that. All of it is very real. The intro was kind of lost cause it says: The ones who love you the most Are the ones willing to fight for you... What is interesting when i mention to americans I served in the dutch army. They say thanks for your service. When i mention it here in the netherlands, they say: Are you stupid? They take their way of life and freedom for granted and don't think we need an army. But you have freedom because there is an army. And there are people willing to fight for you and your freedom and trust me, we all pay the price. This is our sacrifice to our country. ❤

Alright I think the ❤means yes. Soldiers are not homeless before they go on a mission. Often have gf's living together or are married. But you are not the same person when you come back. And soldiers are trained to not show weakness. Ever. Weakness is not acceptable. You can't say you have a mental issue. Are you okay? Yea sure everything is fine. If you are weak, you are a problem. And these guys come back with mental issues like ptsd and not the same person as they were. Arguments start, substance abuse, getting kicked out of the house. Cant keep a job in these conditions. And end up homeless. It's the dark side of military training.

The only group of people that are helping these "troubled" veterans in the video are other veterans (the cop and Jacoby). Just something else to consider. I was able to prevent a brother-in-arms from comitting suicide because they reached out to their mom, and said mom called me. I knew what numbers to call, and acted as the one-person command center for keeping everyone who was affected by the attempt informed. 8 hours after the individual was taken into protective custody, I finally broke. I am unashamed to admit that I collapsed onto my workbench and cried. I went to work the next day, just so that I could have some sense of normalcy. I made a point of taking on the most difficult jobs, because I needed to keep my mind and body busy. Fast-forward to today, and the individual is alive and doing well, as am I. All it took was a phone call to stop a tragedy.

In 2018 the department of defense released statistics showing the 851 American soldiers suffering from PTSD committed suicide because the government didn't do anything to help fort Carson Colorado holds the Guinness book world record for the most soldiers accidentally killing a family member while they were suffering from PTSD they fought for the country and were treated like unsung heroes but when they accidentally kill the family member while they were still in combat mode the courts treated them like the worst people on the planet. Our country is one of the worst countries for taking care of our soldiers other countries treat their soldiers like royalty when they come home and they never need another thing as long as they live but our government doesn't give a s***about us the government's got the people afraid of the when it should be the other way around the government should be afraid of the people.

Watch "MY Monsters are Real." I can relate to it completely. I was part of the lead invasion into Afghanistan just 2 weeks after the towers went down. And, I can honestly say that I have never seen anything like that before. Now, I'm 100% totally and permanently disabled, and it won't end until I die. But, I would do it all over again if given the choice. Someone did it for me and my family, and it was just my turn to pay it forward. My oldest son has now taken his father's place. The price for the freedoms that we enjoy has come at an ungodly price for many. I hope that it's appreciated.

The outcome is really sad and the US should be ashamed, but look at the big picture. Americans are force fed that America is the greatest most free country and every attack (from outside the US) is trying to take their freedom. Every political speech mentions freedom at some stage. 1% of the US adult population is in prison, that twice as many as South Africa in 2nd place, that's hardly the land of the free is it?
