Pretty garden!

The babies are going to be great foragers! Mom is teaching them so well! It amazes me how different chicks with their mom are from the brooder babies. Your tomatoes are so big! I always feel so behind in the garden! The greenstalk looks nice with the flowers--my greenstalks have peppers and some sad looking onions planted in them. The petunias looked nice in your greenstalk, so I ordered some petunia seeds to direct sow in the empty pockets. The seeds came in yesterday--they are the tiniest seeds I have ever seen. They are like little specks of dust and I can hardly see them. I may have to plant them with a magnifying glass and a toothpick. Direct sowing in the greenstalks is not an option. I am gonna try planting them inside, but I may just buy some plants. I wasn't able to plant my summer garden last year because I got a bad case of shingles in the spring and then I had to have unexpected surgery and my mother-in-law went into the hospital a week after my surgery and died a week later. I was depressed before all that happened. I did plant a fall garden and enjoyed it. I just did what I could and hoped for better days--my baby chicks came in the mail at the end of the summer. They needed me and kept me moving. I am still pretty much still an emotional mess, though--an emotional mess with chickens. I find it hard to share my feelings with people--I do like the chickens do when they are sick--I hide it and hope no one notices. I need to do better in connecting with people. I saw a t-shirt that said, "Sometimes I question my sanity, but my chickens told me I'm fine!" It is good to have things that you love and enjoy to pull you out of bed and out of the house--the gardens, cats, chicks, hens, and roosters that need you--and make you smile with their antics.
