Milo that was a very clever fix , However here in Canada we have post terminals that screw into a side mount flat terminal to make it a post terminal , If it fails again Let me know I`ll be glad to send you some terminals , Just make NC threads on your base and screw them on .Or cast a post with a bolt out the bottom then screw it on .

@@KC9UDX Cut off the top of the bad post flush with the top of the battery, drill and tap a hole in what remains, and screw the new post in.

Happened to me too, two 12v in series, truck engine cold start, didn't tightened the connection... wrapt aluminium foil around what was left of the terminal and screwed it tight together. Still works.

Het verbaasde me nog het meest dat het plastic niet ging smelten! Weer wat geleerd :D Keep up the good work!

Hey mastermilo. I'v casted new batterypoles a few times. I use gasnozzel from a mig welder. I cut them to rings. They works great as mold. And they are made of copper so they lead the heat from the molten lead away fast. And the most important thing to remember when pooring molten lead. Is to not overheat the lead (boil) and the mold have to be absolute dry.

I have to use the captions to understand, still worth watching. Keep up the good content !!!! :)

I'd recommend a bit of soldering flux on the terminal to create a clean surface to join the new post to the old, just like when soldering electronics, a dirty joint is a bad joint... :)

Please, never do that, the flush will evaporate and will throw out the molten lead. Always do this on a dry surface and avoid any moisture. The first time he poured the lead the clay was not dry and caused the lead to splash almost in his face.

We used to use the carbon rod out of a D cell battery...connect a wire to the rod on the good battery terminal...use a new battery terminal connector as a mould on the damaged terminal...touch the carbon rod to the damaged terminal and using a bar solder melt the solder into the terminal...dead quick no fuss....works a treat....old fashioned but it works....👍👍👍

Next time if you pour another one, drill a hole in the old terminal and screw a screw into it. Put your mold around the terminal and the screw and pour the lead around both. Or, use a large diameter screw, and fit the cable to the screw...

Copper nut from exhaust works well usually M8 just "screw" them on the remaining pole (grind to M8 thread size) it bites nicely and you can grind soft copper of to have a new highly conductive terminal :-P have done it in the desert works nicely...sometimes

It's a pity that most new batteries doesn't allow one to remove the caps of each tank. It would make this casting a little bit safer. I was afraid that thing blew up at any moment.

Soveits used to do this, you get a loose battery terminal, put it over the broken piece if the broken battery rod, surround it with wet dirty so the rod doesnt melt out of place, then get a thick carbon rod, typically found in zinc batteries, tie it to a copper wire and tie the other end to the other battery terminal and when you touch the broken battery rod, it will begin melting because of the short circuit, make a couple of little balls from soldering wire, put them in the terminal and begin melting them by touching them with the carbon rod, they will start to take shape because of the terminal. (Just make sure to open the battery vent caps to relieve the hydrogen out of the battery, otherwise it may blow up)

I think I would drill and tap it first? But, when I have seen it done, they have used the battery clamp as the mold and fused the lot together with moulten lead.

should of tried to pre heat the base pad of lead before you poured lead into the mold then it probably would have welded together easy. This is basically old school soldering and solder will attach to heat, same with brazing you have to heat up the two metals before you lay down your binding metal for it to work properly

Als je nou meer zuurstof bij de vlam had gedaan, was het smeldproces 5x zo snel geweest.... Even een tipje. Voro de volgende x als je de brander gebruikt en je moet iets smelten, blijf aan de knop draaien totdat de vlam doorzichtig is.

Het water in het klei gaat meteen koken waardoor je dat opspattend lood krijgt. Oplossing: klei laten uitharden of verwarmen met toorts

Voor lood branden/lassen gebruik een kleine vlam in de gietvorm en breng de lood langzaam aan in stok formaat.

Ek het nog nooit die in my lewe gesien nie , hahah dis die wildste goed wat ek nog ooit in my gesien het mooi man ,dis ñ lekker kanaal die.

Superleuk.. ik boor meestal en gaatje en tap draad in het stompje gaat ook goed:)

Lood kan je solderen met kaarsvet, gewoon witte parafine over het te solderen deel laten smelten en dan lood toevoegen. Wel voor schone oppervlakken zorgen. Het hardste metaal iets voorverwarmen.

wow das wel echt goed gedaan! Had je trouwens ook nog overwogen om misschien met een heteluchtpistool of een soldeerbout de pool iets beter te kunnen laten hechten? Kweenie of het zou werken hoor! :-) In ieder geval doet ie het nu weer goed!

Als het nou een accubelg was genoemd en niet een accupool had het misschien ook beter gewerkt. :P

Omdat ie in België woont, net over de grens ;) Das namelijk goedkoper enz.

Zou ik je eens iets zeggen ik heb laatst een paar fosforkolgels gevonden en opengedraaid daar verbrande ik maar een beetje aan dus ik vroeg me af of je daar testje mee kan doen

Ik repareer zoiets gewoon met een gasbrander en wat soldeertin. eerst een ronde buis afzagen en die over de pool leggen en dan de pool een beetje warm stoken en dan langzaam beetje bij beetje met soldeertin opvullen.

je had er eerst een schroef in moeten draaien En als je helemaal MC Gyver gaat neem je een D cel baterij die sloop je open en daar zit een koolstof stift in , dan doe je een koperen masiefe draad aan die stift en maak je contact met de andere pool en met lood smelt je er zo een nieuwe op

hey Milo, Waar kom je eik vandaan? ( brabants accent )

Volgende keer eerst de rest vd pool goed schoonmaken met een staalborstel, dan S39 er op smeren, mal er over, dan goed heet stoken en dan snel nieuw lood gieten. De fout was hier dat de resterende pool koud is, en als je daar dan op gaat gieten, koelt het gietsel sneller af waardoor het resterende stuk pool niet heet genoeg word om samen te smelten met het nieuwe gietsel. Dus daarom eerst heet stoken zodat het nieuwe gietsel sneller z'n hitte kan overbrengen en het dan goed samensmelt.

Soldering flux applied to the terminal base would help the lead bond, as it's poured into the mold. Pouring molten lead on lead oxide will never work. You can't melt lead oxide, so it forms a film that won't allow a bond.

4:45 not contamination, just oxidized lead thank to air and temperature.

next time simply use a large soldering iron. you can use the lead you cast as a solder to build up the damaged terminal.

Hoi milo. Ik heb een vraag, hoe kan het dat als de plus of min pool van de accu is, de motor uit gaat. Aangezien er dus (dacht ik) alleen stroom nodig is om de startmotor aan te zetten. Dit probleem had ik met mijn accu op mijn buggy thuis ;)

De spanning is nodig voor de ontsteking. De accu dient ook als stabilisatie. Met alleen een dynamo wordt het niet veel.

Voordeel is wel, nou hedde een paar Polen over. Die kende mooi aan ut werk zetten. Komt die tank ook nogges af. LOL
