The thing about Molly is that she knows when to give up unlike other positive characters. She has her limits. Like how she doesn’t like magicians or weird Larry. Or how in the Christmas episode, she knows when things are rough and knows when to give up.

She's also pretty obsessive and that her being too loving can be a flaw, like how she ramped up Libby's bat mitzvah because she thought Libby deserved a big party. Really sets Molly aside from other optimistic protagonists.

Yup exactly lol. Just off the top of my head, some of the things that are different about her compared to most positive characters, she: -has a habit of needing everything to turn out EXACTLY how she imagines it and panics and freaks out if even one thing isn’t perfect -bites off more than she can chew (the last episode I saw was about her thinking she could recreate an entire theme park in her backyard and slowly realizing that it’s too hard to do all by herself) -thinks any kind of being sad/discouraged/worried is bad and doesn’t know that it’s ok to just let yourself be sad for a little while before getting back up and trying again

It's nice to see you finally giving some attention to Molly. She needs all the support we can give so the show wouldn't get cancelled with only 2 seasons

I think the reason Molly works so well is because she has moments where she is negative or showing that she has her dislikes and preferences over things. It’s probably also with how realistic she is, like in the episode “Scare Tactics” when Scratch leaves for a bit she starts out all positive and chill as usual but slowly starts getting paranoid and anxious after some alone time- which is VERY relatable 💀 Especially for an extrovert it can get very hectic when you’re alone Molly’s experience is a little exaggerated for comedic effect but still pretty accurate The writers aren’t protecting her either, she’s not lucky 24/7, she faces consequences of her actions and she’s still a victim of the writers loving slapstick humor💀 That’s just my take

For me it's the fact that her positivity sometimes gets in the way of her friendships/sanity (ie "Ready, Set, Snow", "the Don't Gooder"). It gives her complexity without feeling out of character, and it makes the moments where her joy does shine through even better.

i wouldn't describe it as simple. it gets into some pretty mature topics and handles them really well, and it navigates the nuance of interpersonal conflict ESPECIALLY well, which is generally way harder. far from simple; the stakes being different from your typical silver age adventure fantasy doesn't mean that it's less complex. it's just a different arena.

It's amazing how Disney Channel is able to make highly beloved shows, yet Disney now, is getting torn to pieces in the movie field

This show is an absolute masterpiece!! Definitely Disney Channel's best non-story driven/slice of life series since Phineas And Ferb!!(No disrespect to the GOAT Big City Greens.) The Ghost And Molly Mcgee really needs more love and attention so it can get a third season!! 💜 👻 🌈📱

Honestly Andrea has really been a big part of S2 and she’s really improved. I love how’s she’s Molly’s human best friend besides Libby now.

I personally love Darryl. Not because his voice actor, Michaela Dietz (which is the voice actor of Amethyst in Steven Universe and the voice of Vee from the owl house) I relate to Darryl a lot. Always getting in trouble for being his weird, upbeat self. I ADORE that they have a character like this in this wonderful show.

One of the best things about Molly and scratch is that they let Molly be sad sometimes and Scratch be happy sometimes

I like that in shows like Gravity Falls, Amphibia, The Owl House, and The Ghost and Molly McGee, the teen characters feel like real kids, and not type of teens you would see in teen dramas

Not Gravity Falls for me. As good as the show is, their teen characters are mostly stereotypical teens except for Wendy, even who was very stereotypical and unlikable in season 1.

@@RandomSkyeRoses oh, that's what you meant by teens of teen dramas. By all means, I won't put Gravity Falls under good teen rep. Actually, I am gonna say it. It has bad teen rep. Yeah, they do what typical teens do, and it's OK to have teens like that in your show, but don't just make it like what they were doing is plain bad. Specially in their intro episode. Those 2 ghosts are total boomers. Yes teens were disrespectful but you can't just run a shop and ban an entire age group. They are the ones being offensive now. And as ghosts, they try to KILL some teens. Yet the story portrays them as the victims? They even get what they want, what was to embarrass a child by forcing him to do something for their enjoyment. They are far from victims. Forget Bill Cipher, those 2 are the real most evil characters of GF. I think I should stop talking about that episode cause when I think about it, I start to think one of my favourite shows as an awful garbage. But there are problems with the other side too. Sometimes, they just ignore actual bad stuff the teens do. They literally abuse Thomson, who's also a teen and show potrays it as just a silly goofy joke. After all this, I wanna say that don't get me wrong, Gravity Falls is still one of my favourites but the way they handled the teen stuff is just awful.

What I like is that Molly is associated with Joy not happiness joy meaning good in a bad situation Molly is aware of the bad but chooses to try to see the good

Honestly Scratch and Libby have some of the most funny lines in the whole show!

I love this show and I look forward to seeing where this show will heading especially towards the end of season 2.

I knew an Andrea who was also particular about the pronunciation of her name- Haven't seen all of S1 but I ADORE SCRATCH HE IS KING. Libby is super relatable sometimes,,, I think Molly works because of Scratch being her opposite, but also because of her fits of mild insanity and the subtext of her slight Marcy attitude with friends. She seems a little clingy bc of the moves and I hope it gets acknowledged bc that's a really interesting part of her character The animation is GORGEOUS especially for a disney show (Moon Girl is also great) The expressions are hilarious and super nice to look at! Anyways I am loving the new content!! I'm gonna stick around for any cartoons you talk about (Not just Disney ones either, Dreamworks ones like Kipo or Nickelodeon ones like ROTTMNT and some other random ones I'll stay either way I love animation) I hope this vid does well! Sorry for the long comment-

​@@Krishnadiadas2011 The Owl House fandom is... concerning. Not all of its fans of course, but a loud bunch of them are. To list some of them down: 1) White favoritism This one is gonna be a bit of a tangent to really delve on, and may even be controversial. Basically, even way back in the first season, the fandom's favorite character was Amity. She had more fanart and praise than Luz, the main character herself. Non-white characters like Willow and Gus were sidelined (and still kind of are). When Hunter came into view, fans started championing him as well, to the point fans have argued the white characters should've been the protagonists. Willow only started getting popular when she got shipped with Hunter; Camila was thought of as a bad mom by fans until they realized she could adopt Hunter. To put simply, characters of color only started getting valued by fans when they could attach them to their favorite white character. Fans also harassed people if they did not like their white characters, especially people of color. (It's not that liking Amity or Hunter is bad, heck Hunter is one of my favorites and I'm a poc. It's just that it's been a recurring pattern that the fandom focuses mainly on the white characters and ignoring non-white characters.) 2) Shipping Some shippers really hate straight pairings for some reason. That's all I really have to say about the Owl House fandom. It's not actually too bad compared to other cartoon fandoms like Steven Universe, and white favoritism isn't limited to The Owl House fandom anyway.

I’m so happy to see you make a vid about TGAMM!! It’s one of my personal favorite cartoons, it’s just so charming and fun and I love the characters so much(which is basically what you said in the vid but I feel that way too lol). I love that it’s been getting more attention lately since when it first aired it was definitely overshadowed by Amphibia and TOH, but now that both of those shows are over it can finally shine on its own.

Honestly I was indifferent to Darryl in S1 but with the moments he’s getting in S2 I’m starting to really like him. He was really enjoyable in the period episode.

This cartoon is my absolute favorite right now, even more so than other cartoons I've been watching. I like our heavily serialized shows, but something episodic like this is just such a breath of fresh air, reminds me of 2000s cartoons. It's not trying to go dark or be all serious and keeps its light-hearted tone while still exploring some really diverse topics, like the Hanukkah episode where they explore Libby's family escaping the Holocaust. It's a dark subject to talk about but the show manages to keep its writing optimistic and treat that kind of subject matter with respect. I like that.

I honestly love seeing characters like scratch

I loved the finale for season 1, and I like Darrell, Scratch, and Libby's characters. It has good comedy, and they aren't overly positive. I've seen 2 full episodes for season 2 so far, and love it too.

I’ve decided to revisit Ghost and Molly McGee and I have to say I’m really enjoying each ep! Molly and Scratch’s friendship is adorbs!

Also I’ve already seen episode 5 of the show here is a hint to what happens for people who haven’t seen it. 5A someone sees somthing. 5A there is a brand new bad and he’s coming for a big business in town…

Since you’re starting to expand to other Disney shows…Then I definitely recommend Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur! You’ve probably heard of it before but it’s SO good. Like it’s the next big story cartoon show! If you have the time to talk about it I hope you do, because Moon Girl might be the show that continues serialized Animation. Also while it is episodic through majority of the first season, it POPS OFF with its season finale, like it rivals the other serialized shows first season finale! Anyways sorry for the stupidly long comment but it’d be nice to finally see one of the big leagues talk about this show. It should not be slept on!

i love how straight forward it is. i expected scratch to be "secretly evil" where he would hide his ulterior motives for half a season. or that molly would have to hide scratch from her family while he takes advantage of her blind kindness, but no, hes just genuinely apart of the family it's not frustrating at all and it's just very sweet and SEAsian rep WOOOOO 🎉

As it comes to molly McGee, I feel she is primarily a good character because of the fact she has quite a few flaws. her kidness has its limits, and in some cases where something is the right thing to do, she is still willing to say no in a rather rude fashion if she dislikes the situation enough, (helping chase down an escaped skunk for instance.) She has good intentions but is also flawed in how she deals with those situations at times. She has selfish tendencies, some of which of course are pulled out by Scratch encouraging them slowly into the open more in some cases. she can be spiteful about things as well to the point it can blind her original intentions. She's a good character with good intentions overall, but she is also human, young and still learning things as she goes. this mixed bag of personality gives them alot of options on what the character can do in the show, and how they react to situations as well. Couple scratch's personality with this and it opens the door even wider, situations where she normally wouldn't get into of her own choices being either influenced or pulled along by scratch's actions and opinions. The only thing I don't like about season 2 is Ollie. making a character have similar interests to molly is fine, overall it can work. but... Gonna be honest. they went a bit overboard with it. he has interests in helping his community like molly, he is overly positive, very motivated and optimistic, so far they haven't shown his personality flaws of course, and to couple it all together, all his dislikes and likes are in line with molly to a near T. he doesn't like spiders, is the first one to state his disinterest instead of molly saying something first. It just feels like his inclusion was forced a bit. Their arrival right across the street from the McGee household, and suddenly he's perfect in every way. I just feel there's a few things they could have done lightly better with him to differentiate him as a different person than molly. His only difference right now is that he's a boy and instead of liking ghosts, he hates them... Thats about it. They made a 'better' gender reversed molly with fewer flaws. Every other bit of the Chens though fits perfectly otherwise, they did very well with it. He just feels a bit too 'perfect' for convenience sake. As it comes to the Ghost world. I'm getting some pretty heavy vibes from the ghost council in the fact that they're secretly the real leaders of the ghost world. The chairman never speaks, he never really acts much beyond his presence, and on a few occasions, the council are the ones to state his actions before he performs them. "Chairman is displeased." before he then rises up to open the flow of failed phantoms for instance. The Ghost council already have given hint to manipulating scratch into trusting them. Eventually they'll likely slowly mold him into doing what they want as more things slowly start going wrong. Already the episode with the story sprite shows that not all ghosts respect his authority just because he put on the robe. in a state of panic, and with the ghost council backing him up. I can only see this being a situation where Scratch's laziness and lack of interest in the position eventually leads to him making long term choices without fully seeing the effects of his actions until its almost too late. The ghost council will either obtain more power, turning him into their puppet, the robe he wears slowly shaking him of his free will, or a catastrophic event will lead to him doing something bad to try and do something good, not knowing if there is another way to fix the problem.

I'm looking forward to getting back into it. This show is so underrated for what the product is. And I see a ton of similarities between this show and the Owl House and makes a great companion to it. Whereas the Owl House looks at things that can go wrong from a cultural standpoint, TGAMG looks at when things go wrong from more of an economic perspective. The protagonist is finding her way in a somewhat rundown town with some villain pulling the strings in the background simply for personal benefit. And we see the effect it has in artificially depressing the town. It makes for a strong message which is one of the show's strengths and serves as something to orient the show. I'm excited to see how the removal of the chairman shapes the town and the throughline.
