Mola Setti : Is this the best Beauty Dish on the market?

Well, spoiler alert...I love the Mola Setti! It is indeed my favorite beauty dish. I also have the Mola Demi which has its own look as well and it is more portable. I will be reviewing that one soon. The Mola Manti..the BIG boy is also going to be reviewed!

I do love using the 20 degree grids because to me it adds drama that I love for my work. I prefer to use the ad600 or ad400 with the extension head but if I have to use the ad200 I won't have any problems either as it did a great job when my ad600 battery died. :-)

Great modifiers. I have a Demi and a 16" silver Rayo. I would like a Setti, having watched Emily Soto's work with it over the years. Alas, there is no European dealer anymore, so getting hold of them is virtually inpossible / massively expensive. Mola will ship direct to the UK, but a $1000 modifier becomes a $2000 modifier! :(

It is indeed on the pricier side if one is used to more affordable softboxes but well worth it in my opinion. Unlike cameras that we change often, modifiers are to me a wiser investment since normally we keep those for like ever :) I do have a link on the description so you can check current pricing if you are in the US. And nothing wrong with umbrellas at all. You can create awesome images with all of them, just a matter of the exact look you want and how much post etc. The Setti just seems to get me where I want to be very quickly. I got to try my AD600 before getting the AD600 Pro and it was very similar in look for the quick test I did so you should be fine. I would suggest using a low profile mount like the ones from Cheetahstand or Adorama. 144mm should be the one as 150mm is too big. I use this part with my Setti: bhpho.to/3BY5zoU I find it the best option along with the offset arm listed on the description for the way I use it . You should totally use it, I love this beauty dish! Thanks for the kind words and let me know your experience when you use it please.

You need a 1 1/8 junior receiver adapter. You could then mount it on a C stand , do not use a normal light stand or as Luis had an Offset Arm. The adapter is 20$ on B & H EDIT : i mean you can use an Offset arm with a junior receiver.

Why thank you so much!!! In studio I use mostly the Molas so maybe I am like you. I actually did a business shoot/party with the demi in clamshell and the results were great now that you mention that. But dang, when we use the bron it’s a whole different level. The falloff and separation on it is unbelievable. It really is worth every penny. Your parabolic comparison video was dead on. Parabolix is awesome, but the bron is in a whole different class. I think the Mola vs para issue for me is more of a how much space I have to work with issue.
