I respect what the Surge 2 did it knew it's audience and played to it. In an age where many sequels abandon what the fans of the previous entry loved in order to reach a wider audience I have to respect a dev that focuses on improving where it fell short instead of overhauling what people loved. It falls short in places yes but I personally haven't experienced any place where it regressed from the original.

Noone asked for this game But it was pretty epic not gonna lie 50 bucks well spent

I've been playing through the first 1 since I got it on sale. I have some issues with enemy movement and their oddly long and high damaging combos, but the limb targeting is super fun and I'm liking the world building and environments so far. The many shortcuts point is accurate but that's why I liked Production B honestly, it was cool to go through a long stretch and then pop out near the Ops.

I don't know how anyone can like this game movement is so bulky to me and feels like your character is just a brick

This game needs to add Charlie as an optional player character voice and it will achieve perfection

I actually really like the level design in both Surge 1 and 2, probably more so than actual Souls games. The amount of shortcuts was fun to me. It always felt good to find one.

The story in the surge and the surge 2 was someone of my favorite narratives, it was really cool to see how it ties into the world today and I would say it is the exact opposite of uninspired. They clearly put a lot of effort into writing it and the story telling

Finished The Surge and I really enjoyed it but could see where it had wasted potential and flaws (like the Map Design). Started The Surge 2 and man is it a huge improvement I feel. They really took the time to improve lots of aspects and I'm enjoying it immensely. This could be Deck 13's flagship franchise, if there is a third one I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I might have to give this game another look now. From glancing through a quick playthrough video, I thought the enemies were mostly all the same dude with a metal beam for a weapon. I always tend to agree with Charlie's ratings so I should probably look a little more into this.

I often experienced another bug with the finishers when the enemy just froze in place as I started the move and after it they burst into flames and disappeared moments later

I didnt even know a "the surge 2" existed. I enjoyed the surge. I might play this one too.

I adore the directional parry system that alone makes the game worth it for me

I got this game less than a week ago and honestly this is the best Souls Like I have played so far. So much fun, interesting and unique mechanics that helps it stand out, the boss fights so far are cool af and unique (little Johnny). The level design honestly is fucking amazing and the visual style is orgasmic. The characters are cool but the story is lackluster, but I don’t think that is the focus so I don’t mind. 8/10 overall.

My problem with the surge was occasionally running into mobs that are godlike difficulty wise in comparison to the rest of the zombies lumbering around

these games really remind me of let it die in the flow of the combat but kind of in a different dystopian setting

It's pretty brilliant.

As a non souls expert this game was plenty challenging. The nanite boss kicked my ass for a while. If you want more of a challenge don't use that augment that tells you which way you need to block.

Try AI: the somnium files it's surprisingly really good. You might like it.

I'm playing it now it's really great

I also give it 80%, it's a great game but damn does that map get confusing when you end up learning 200+ shortcuts, then you have to remember where they go......

I think coop was supposed to come out for the first one then never did

yeah i was also supposed to give it another try but gave up due to finding more interesting things to do.

Basically dark souls with robots

The devs listened very well to the fans, and it shows, its a great game of what i played so far and combat is good and the story interesting, what more does one want? Can't wait to see if we get a part 3, couse i'm sure it will be even better :)

I’m a little late, but I don’t think this games map’s really had any issues. As long as you’re actually looking around and not just trying to speed-run through it, you won’t get too lost. I will agree Port Nixon is the worst of all, but I don’t actually think it’s that bad unless you’re just rushing through.

@lord of the onion rings i completed all endings of code vein, and completed both the surge 1 and 2 twice, im also a souls enthusiast, i know what im talking about when it comes to polish in combat and other aspects. code vein might be a nice anime game but its REALLY unpolished, there are tons of animations skips and ackward looking attacks, even charlie commented on it on his moist meter, i know you love the game but downplaying other games inst the way to go, the surge 1 and 2 are way more polished than code vein despite having bad map/enemy/boss design.

@lord of the onion rings you are out of your goddamn mind, in what world does code vein have better animations and polish, in the majority of maps i could find countless textures that looked like grey unrenderized mush, meanwhile the game constantly demanded more CPU power even though it doenst look that good, the combat animations were also horrible in most weapons, in the surge 1&2 you had specific combo strings and strikes for each weapon type, all of them brilliantly served a purpose, meanwhile in code vein not only is there a SEVERE lack of weapon types there is also very little reason not to use the top weapons of the class you picked, there were cool weapons like the machete which immediately get outclassed by the one handed katana you get from louis. in fact the only reason why i even played code vein is because of the character creator and overall anime feeling the game has, not because of meaningful stuff like combat,animations and map design.

@lord of the onion rings yep, you're not making any sense, im muting this, dont have the patience to deal with morons that not only cant type but also dont make any sense, the gift system would be nice if it wasnt so lackluster, you basically need to master other blood codes in order to create a functional blood code, otherwise they are all pieces of a broken puzzle. as for the graphics and polish thing, yeah, you're not making any sense, the only good part about code vein's graphics are the way the characters look, and with that i've already said all i needed to say. ill just state again that you dont need to downplay other games to praise code vein, these soulslikes are all good in their own way. there are however, facts that make some slightly better than others, which i've already stated yet you refuse to accept because you're as stubborn as a rock. hope someone else picks this up because i dont have the patience to type everything i just typed again.
