Recounting events “back then,” when “the news … was full of war, and migrants, and nativists,” Hamid’s fourth novel uses the compressed power and spare language of allegory to tell an urgent story about today. Tracking the fallout of broken countries through the love story of Nadia and Saaed, Hamid, the author of The Reluctant Fundamentalist and a frequent contributor to journals including The New York Review of Books, follows the couple from their unnamed South Asian nation to a refugee camp near a Greek island resort, then to London, where uneven power outages give the city “dark” and “light” sides. While the world is in such turmoil that special doors magically appear and whisk people from one place to another, Hamid’s protagonists encounter empathy as well as hostility.

Read this great novel 2 days age and thrilled me in unknown way. I have fallen for his voice, his writing and his thoughts

Such a beautiful book! I just finished last night (cried a lot).
I have read Exit West recently. Listening to author was like a feast.
This is such fantastic book. He has the ability to highlight such insight

cant wait to read this. just read yesterday about the book and there are other book also nominated in booker prize 2017 and they seem amazing too specially paul auster's 4321.
Seriously an amazing person!...I have completely fallen in love with his writing style.

He is a great writer and an elegant e inteligent speaker.
Civilizations can be defined by the goals they share. This abstract boundary does manifest itself as contrasting goals collide in the world. We see this tangibly; it's not something we get to deny.
Best book of this year. Idea of writing is Impressive 👍. Im pleased to select it for my dissertation 😊

I am reading Exit West right now and I would love to watch this, but it has not been captioned for the deaf and hard of hearing. Please consider taking the time to caption your videos so that they are accessible to more people. As a severely hard of hearing reader, I can tell you that very few literary KZread videos are captioned and that's incredibly frustrating.
