It’s basically similar to how “ASGORE” from Undertale incorporates the game over theme, “Determination”. The use of the game over theme in this boss’s theme symbolizes that you’re going to die A LOT.

@@PokemonHayley I usually reach Kanako in my Mof runs but fuck her Misayama Shrine Hunting spellcard. That likes to kill me. I always reach MoF with 0 lives. The easiest final boss should be Keiki

Kanako and the Youkai Mountain appear in Gensokyo. Kanako gives nuclear powers to Okuu, causing the geyser to erupt. The geyser spouts out Nazrin, Ichirin, Murasa, Shou, and Nue, who revive Byakuren. When Byakuren is revived, she sets a temple on Miko's mausoleum, awakening her. Reimu, Miko, and Byakuren engage in combat to get attention, then Kokoro appears. In other words, Kanako caused everything from TH10 to TH13.5.

Kanako indirectly set the story of Subterranean Animism, Unidentified Fantastic Object, Ten Desired, Hopeless Masquerade and Double Dealing Character. She gave Ooku her nuclear powers, allowing her to create the geyser (SA) that made the treasure ship to pop out of the makai (UFO) Hence, the ship took place as the myoren temple on the mausoleum in which Toyosatomimi no Miko was sealed, the Crown Prince was resurrected by Seiga, Futo and the Taoist faction (TD) and a religion war faked as a popularity contest suddently started between the three religions (HM). Taking advantage of this instable situation in Gensokyo, Seija Kijin and Shinyoumaru started their plot to put society Upside down making Harmless youkai and bewitched items to act strange or aggressive (DDC).

Miko actually wasn't resurrected by the Taoists. Rather, because humans started to call the legends of Prince Shotoku fictitious, Miko's mausoleum moved to Gensokyo where it wouldn't be sealed by Buddhist monks anymore. It's only because of legends in the outside world discounting Miko's feats became more prolific that the Great Mausoleum where she was trapped in was transported over the barrier, where she could then break out. Her reawakening gathered Tojiko, Futo, and Seiga, along with all the divine spirits that ended up causing the incident. However, the Myouren gang trying to reassert the barrier keeping Miko in the Great Mausoleum actually weakened it to the point where Miko could escape, so if Kanako hadn't come to Gensokyo, Miko would've taken longer to reawaken. Also, DDC would've likely happened regardless of the previous upheavals. Seija is the true culprit behind it, and she simply wanted to cause trouble. Sukuna would've always been gullible enough to believe Seija, so she would've always tried using the Miracle Mallet. On the other hand, you could indirectly lay the blame for TH17 on Kanako, since Kanako indirectly causing Miko to reawaken also made Saki come to Gensokyo with the other followers of Miko, where she then conspired with Yachie to fool the heroines into attacking Keiki.

Toby Fox, being inspired by touhou in many ways, have done the same with Asgore's theme in Undertale. I'd say chances of it being a coincidence are as small as me beating Kanako on normal mode.

Reimu's arguably the most powerful person in Gensoukyou, at least in terms of dodging. She has the power to appear and disappear out of reality, such as when using Fantasy Seal. And even when she isn't, she's just damn powerful.

Reimu has an awful lot of superpowers, and an instinctive knowledge of how to use them. She's easily on par with the most OP beings in her universe, even outside of danmaku. Shame that there's someone who pretty much hard counters her whole package. (it's yukari)

Well... whether Yukari or Reimu is more powerful than the other is debatable. While Yukari has the positively broken ability to manipulate borders, both abstract and tangible, Reimu has the ability to phase out of reality. Plus, being the head deputy of Gensokyo, the benefits of being a miko are in her favor. I'm not too sure WHY or HOW Reimu is so powerful, but it's generally accepted that she can beat anyone in a fight with danmaku rules applied, and can kill anyone in a fight without them.

Kanako: The First boss who showed me that Touhou IS hard even on easy.

02:14 - This part gives me shivers every time I hear it, especially in game. You can hear the sound of the wind in the background along with a quiet rendition of the main melody. But that wind. It sounds so majestic. And you usually hear this part during VoWG. It just has this amazingly perfect dramatic tension to it, especially since VoWG is a difficult spell where a lot is at stake! Epic!

The simplicity of that main melody makes it all so imposing, like she's truly the most powerful individual behind all the games, controlling the wind itself. And just like the wind; subtly changing the environment according to her will, gently pushing things around, but always present.

this is really hard to decide, but i feel like MoF has the best music set of all the games. its almost jaw-dropping. there isn't a. single. song. in the game that isn't overwhelming. other games have really remarkable masterpieces, but other songs in the same game aren't quite up to the challenge. MoF simply balances it out and delivers content with top quality from start to end.

I like how comments on Touhou videos reply to each other in intervals of multiple months or years. And I'd say PCB even tops MoF in this regard - it's just older. Whereas the comparably calm pieces like the stage themes 4 and 5 (and even 6, though it's kinda less calm) age well enough for me to fully enjoy them when playing up there, I can't help but imagine what Border of Life might sound like if it had been composed with the current music quality - compare to Little Princess.

I feel like each game has its style and aura music-wise. EoSD has a really good soundtrack imo, I think every song has a lot of character, if you understand what I mean. It also varies, you have "light-hearted" songs like beloved tomboyish girl or apparitions stalk the night, and you have gloomy-sounding tracks like locked girl or descendant of tepes. PCB and IN have the most beautiful music by far, MoF and SA have powerful and glorious themes, and TD's soundtrack isn't like touhou at all imo, but it is just awesome. My favorite would be DDC though. It's both catchy and emotional, it's "traditional" and innovative in my opinion ^^ (but i have to admit that lolk stage 6 theme and pure furies are probably one of the best songs in 2hu history)

During my 1CC run in MoF, I remember becoming very agitated and nervous at Kanako's last spell card. I was starting to lose focus and I kept thinking that I won't make it. This song is what made me regain my focus and capture her last spell card with no problem. This is truly a magnificent theme.

I can get that Kanako is immune to bombs in the last spellcard. But why dafuq are the bombs only 10% as strong as they are normally when it comes to cleaning up and saving your life.

I love how this song has so many different genres. Electronic, rock and roll, waltz, royal procession, choiral arrangement, and then simply winds blowing in the empty desert. It gives the strong feeling of being toyed with by a god who can be anything she wants in any era.

MoF was my first Touhou game back in High School, and Kanako was one of the most epic final bosses I've ever met (and that convinced me to become a Touhou fan tbh). A real test of patience and skill. And yeah, the music feels epic

Everybody gangsta until the game over theme starts playing during the boss fight.

"The act of challenging a god is one that is punishable by divine retribution. I won't kill you, but I'll make sure this beatdown teaches you to never provoke me."

This theme honestly fits her if you imagine the fight or war she had with Suwako and the fight you have with her.

I usually think of this theme’s start as the beginning of an intense war. Then for a moment, the tension disappears, the music gets chiller for only the calm melody and a deafening secondary noise to be heard: the enemy becomes conscious of the howling wind. Then the war continues with all of its might.

Fun fact: pretty much every Replay/Score screen (after this game, thanks Miko) has a bit of this in the background. Every time you get rekt, Kanako's theme is in the background. It's as if she's taunting her rival shrine. Or, I dunno, maybe it's just a Moriya Shrine Conspiracy as usual.

This is probably my favorite Touhou final boss theme. It sounds like there are some remix elements in it like Necrofantasia (my second favorite boss theme) but it also has a very distant feel from others that is very powerful and goddess-like, I also think the title screen music is the best and a lot of that feeling is in this song.

For some reason I can picture this OST being used in a Ryu Ga Gotoku styled battles. With 00:00 - 00:11 being the dynamic intro and the 00:12 is the enemy introduction... you know the thing that goes "GORO MAJIMA - Majima Family Patriarch".

Can somebody tell me. Why every touhou MoF theme names have messages, like Dark side of faith, Faith is for the transient people, and even tommorow will be sunny but yesterday was not. For me "Tommorrow will be sunny but yesterday was not" means, every Problem with hardwork will always have a good Future.. Even "faith is for the transient people"has a message, like, every people who doesn't respect time, should have faith.. Which is a good theme... Idk maybe other touhou series' themes have messages too

Because the game takes place in a mountain with gods living in it, and as everybody knows, faith is the fuel of them, in short words, faith is the main theme in th10 But what about minoriko tho? "Because princess inada is scolding me"

Touhou is usually not a happy series, take sumirenko, she is torn between the outside world and gensokyo and begins to struggle pretty hard since she spends all her time sleeping to cross the barrier, also gensokyo is an apartheid system where humans are kept as fear cattle for youkai

MoF's music sends endless shivers through me. So good, goddamn.

This theme just screams pure power. Kanako is awesome man

The best way I could describe my favorite song here is it feels as though a crisis was occurring, until it set eyes on you and froze time to direct all its wrath in your direction. A God doing this...you are the center of the universe for this brief period of time

Columns stand like mourning shadows. Leaves whisk by in the cold breeze. The last fire of day can be seen on the surface of the cold deep, and it is in the distance, sitting atop the tallest pillar, is the goddess of the mountain, one who has seen many battles and won a few herself. She's got an idea of how things should work around here, and she'll do anything to ensure the safety of Gensokyo.

Everything in this theme is just fantastic, and makes the TouHou 10-14 games what they are. Like, come on, the main leitmotiv is so good that it's used in literally every game as the Game Over screen theme now Kanako is such an ominous and influent person, introducing her with this theme is just fantastic.

At first, you feel as if you're watching a spaceship being launched, then you dance through the air with Kanako.

This theme is easily one of my favorite Boss tunes.

I really like it when the theme loops around to 2:14 and it times with her final spell card. A lot of final boss final spells in Touhou feel like last-stand attempts against the heroine, but Kanako's had a much more threatening, uneasy feeling. I'm not sure how to describe it.

This is probably one of, if not my favorite Touhou theme. It's just amazing. It perfectly fits Kanako and it's filled with so many feelings, It's like it tells her story. The part at 1:25 is just AMAZING. For me it sounds like it tells that Kanako really isn't a bad person, but her greed and arrogance ruins it for her.

Just gonna sit here and imagine what this theme is like in 17.5, I know we got a glimpse of it but still, it's fun to listen to this and then imagine what the full ver would be...

I cry to this everytime

If We count this video, the another one of this Theme of ScarletFlameFlandre and the Louchan one... then it's already 1M views. Bravo, Kanako! Truly a great song with the vibe of a God and a REAL Final Boss

I always found the segment at 0:52 rather sad sounding. It's as if the song itself is trying to give you some hope as you brave the Virtue Of Wind God & defeat Kanako, who minus that final spell, really isn't too much trouble to fight.

This is my favorite final boss theme. Hands down!

Officially probably my favorite (or very high) in favorite touhou songs. Touhou 10 really has some of the best music, in my opinion.
