Hi! Banana farmer! You are all doing a wonderful job! I'm looking for some information regarding post-harvest practices followed in banana farming after harvesting. May I know what is done to the banana pseudostems after the banana bunch is harvested? will it be only providing nutrients to the follower plant? does any farmer burn the pseudostems or cut and throw them in rivers or landfils or used to make any useful items etc? also, once in how many years do you clear the field and plant new saplings? Thanks in advance!

The value of the banana industry is attributed to the hard work of its people. They deserve to be looked after by the company and government too by giving them benefits that extend through their families. The Producers and Owners trust to develop and capitalise this industry give them the highest value that government must always support. The fact that they make use of science and develop the farming by using advance technology, provide edge ensuring quality and healthy fruits. Not only banana plants contribute to the environment bringing freshness that balances the air, this industry contribute to the economic growth of the country. The growth of this industry must be sustained to the highest degree. Creates employment, produce healthy fruits that are best for the overall well being of consumers and show the world the very best of the Philippines. This is a great showcase. May GOD BLESS the banana industry in the Philippines.

I don't think bananas in N. American can come from Asia. They come from central and S. America. And the ones you eat in Canada are CRAP compared to what you can eat in Asia or central, S. America. You're eating something that was harvested before the plant was able to put more nutrition into the fruit since they have to be picked very green, to survive the shipping from even S. America to N. America.

Fantastic . . . Its wonderful to see this type of sustainable growth of a country moving forward in the world in both taking care of it's own and taking care of other humans all over the world with nutritious foods. There is a God and this right here proves God is Good 👍 Hats off to the Philippines leadership of moving forward in the fight for human survival. Oher countries leadership needs to follow by example of the Philippines and do something to take care of its own which inturn helps others around the globe as well as seen here as the Philippines has accomplished. I'm an American and I love seeing progress moving forward in a positive way.

Kudos to the phillipines! They found a product and perfected the process. Agree with it all except spraying fungicides. There is safe mushroom processes for controlling fungi. May make it safe stop the handling of toxics

Why do you not agree with spraying the fungicide? Do you know what the specific fungicide is that they spray? Do you know about the safety of the fungicide they use?

European farmers are now using UAV's or drones, which are electronically controlled to exterminate pests and micro-biological plant diseases in very large plantations. 'Hope the Philippines DA could help the local farmers and growers acquire this new technology for local application.

Europe usually have cold climate and sun is not always available at the farmfield so they have to use UV rays as replacement for sun rays, now on the pest or bugs in the field Europe and Asia have both different breed of bugs that preys on the crops,so it's a different method and treatment for each field.
