this is a good way to mix the functionality of a standing desk while still enjoying a traditional wooden desk feel. the precision of the the drawer faces and the added curve on the front are lookin sleek.

As Ive decided to work beyond retirement, the standing desks are amazing at keeping you focused and feeling better after a long day. I really like your desk and the utilization of storage. Great job John

Awesome, as always. You are the reason that I bought the Bora centipede stands. I have the 2‘ x 4‘ and the 4‘ x 8‘ models. I use the heck out of both of them… And I love the convenience of being able to put them away as soon as I’m done - in my tiny little garage. Thanks for sharing… Best to you and yours.

Absolutely amazing build I've been seeing these desks more and more either on TV or KZread commercials and of course Beautiful builds like yours. I very much would like a desk like this, I'm pretty capable of building a desk and drawer portion and maybe legs but not the rising part. Thanks for sharing.

I really like this design with the storage under the desktop. I’ve been thinking about replacing my oversized L-shaped desk in my home office with a simple slab since I do t need all the filing storage my current desk offers. But I’ve been hesitant because there are still~some~ things that need to be around my desk like chargers, cables, etc. This design would be perfect for what I need to give me a minimalist desk combined with practical storage. Thanks for posting.

When I saw the drawer fronts placed into the slots, I hoped that you were going to use "push to open" drawer slides, as it was such a nice clean look, and not use any pulls or handles.. Also, if there's a third setting for desk height, you could have 1 for sitting, 1 standing, and 1 for a height that will fit your chair underneath, but as low as possible..
Excellent video! Your videos are always so well done and easy to follow. Any chance you will have build plans for this desk available to purchase on your site any time soon?

Nice desk! I just bought and assembled my base today (I’m using an existing top). Then I see your video - so now I have to build a top as well. 😊 Unrelated question. What did you do to your shop vac? Is that a home made cycle or something? Any video on that? Thanks!

It’s an idea Dustopper was working on incorporating their separator inside the vac. They have a video about it on their channel

hey John, are the dimentions available? if not are u able to make them, I am looking to recreate this for my yr 12 major work.
Nice piece John. How do you decide when to and not to use dominos, biscuits etc to align boards for glue ups like this top and bottom here. You got a great outcome without them. Thanks.
@JohnBuildsIt
Жыл бұрын
Just if some of the boards are bowed or something and need help staying aligned flat, or really large panels. These were all nice and flat, so easy to clamp up without any help
I checked your link you don't have plans or a cut list for this desk? I think it's awesome, I would use my dowelmax I'm not that advanced to freehand them yet lol.

Great build. What thickness did you mill that down too? What did you start at?

3/4, usually starts around 1”. The top is a little thicker but I don’t remember exactly at this point haha
Great project John! I’ve been thinking about building a new office desk. A little off topic question but I noticed you have hardwood or vinyl floors. What did you do with the wheels on your office chair?

We installed Vinyl luxury plank through out the house and I’ve been terrified of the plastic wheels on the office chairs scratching the floor. Interesting. Just wondering if you did anything with your plastic office chair wheels. Cheers! Love the videos. Keep it up John.
Hey John awesome build, i notices you switched to the milwuakee track saw which one do you prefer makita or milwuakee?
@JohnBuildsIt
Жыл бұрын
I need more time with the Milwaukee but I’m definitely leaning that way. Both are really great saws though
You can store so you get air under the bottom. Helps keep it stable allowing the top and bottom to dry the same amount is the theory. That way you get less movement and won't have to re-mill loosing thickness.
@JohnBuildsIt

Enjoyed the video. Looking to build something like this for my kids. I do have a question. It’s more out of curiosity then anything else. Why only glue for the top and bottom panels and not glue and dowels? Is it a preference or is it for expansion purposes?
@JohnBuildsIt
Жыл бұрын
I use dowels or biscuits if the panels are big enough or need some assistance keeping lined up. They’re just for alignment, all the strength is the glue

Would yhis adjustable frame work for a 74" wide version of this desk?
