Modern Fondant Ruffle Cake | Cake Decorating Tutorial
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this cake decorating tutorial, I show you how I made this show stopping fondant ruffle cake:) This is a stunner of a modern abstract design for sure! You could do this in any color you would like and it would still be gorgeous. I would consider this more of an intermediate to advanced design. So some fondant experience would come in handy. I did this with a 6' and an 8" cake dummy but using cake would give you the same result. Decorate with flowers or just let it stand alone! Please let me know if you have any questions:)

I love your style of teaching. Thank you for so much variety in cake designs. I saw a comment about music background, but I LOVE not having to listen to background music. It can get so loud and totally unnecessary if you are doing a voice-over for the tutorial. I will be looking for your next tutorial. I LOVE learning new things.

Thank you Joy;) I hear it from both sides. Music is too loud, not enough music🤪. The thing people don't realize is that there is only do far I can turn the music down when I use what youtube offers royalty free. And once it is uploaded you can't change it without loosing your views. Also, you don't know how it will sound until it us published. Makes it kind of hard to judge! So I think I have finally found a good option with the kind of neutral background music and volume that fits. Phew!! Thank you so much for watching my videos. It means the world to me!

Simply gorgeous :) What kind of fondant did you use? The fondant we have here in Canada is not that manageable at all. It dries quickly regardless of how much shortening, tylose or glicerine you add :(

Thanks! I store them in my residential fridge. They will have some condensation when they come to room temp, but they will dry. Give it about 2 hours.

Thanks;) It depends on what kind of fondant I use. Softer fondant like Carma or Satin Ice I do. I find that for this style, Wilton is firm enough without it.

If we are using dummy cake, can the fondant that cover the dummy get dry enough to store it for a long time...? Because the ruffles are quitely cover all the cover fondant...or should we use cmc or tylose powder for cover the dummy and the ruffles????

Buenas tardes , estoy sorprendida con ese proyecto , pero no entiendo la explicacion por el idioma, quisiera saber el diametro de la torta o pastel y la diferencia de una capa de fondant a la otra
@sophisticakesbymary

OI!
What size and how tall are your dummy cakes? Thanks!

They were 6 and 8". 4" tall and 6" tall.

What are the sizes of your cake? I know they are 6in and 8in round but how tall are they?
@sophisticakesbymary
2 жыл бұрын
The top one would be 3 layers and the bottom one probably 5. Kind of depends on how tall your cakes bake up.
Question ok we put cakes with fondant in the fridge but when it stays out it starts to sweat and look wet is this normal or is there something I don't know..
@sophisticakesbymary

Completely normal:) if you leave it out for maybe an hour or so (depending on humidity) it will dry out. Don't worry:)

@@sophisticakesbymaryohh it ok so what causes the air bubble although I know for sure the fondant was touching the cake, or was it because my cake was cold it did that
@sophisticakesbymary
2 жыл бұрын
Air bubbles typically come from inside the cake. There could be air trapped in between the layers of cake from when you assembled it. This is unfortunately normal and my biggest pet peave. There are a couple things you could try. And remember this does not happen every time. You just don't know when. So to try to prevent it you could place something on top of the filled cake for a little while before crumbcoating. Like a book with parchment under it. Not too heavy as you don't want to flatten the cake. This may force the air out before you cover the cake. You could also poke a hole with a straw or skewer down thru the top after it is frosted so the air has an escape route. The fondant is not the problem as it can happen with just buttercream too. Of There is a bubble trapped, it may coma put after it reaches ro.temp because that is when it might settle a bit. I have had it happen with chilled cakes and room temp. When it does happen, just pop it with a pin and coax it out with a Smoother. I know it can be an issue but I hope these things might help.
