Let's be honest...when people paint GOOD wood furniture, it's usually because painting is less time consuming than refinishing. Unfortunately, there have been many pieces of GOOD wood furniture that have been ruined by not taking the extra time to do it right. Yes, there is a market out there for painted furniture...and there are tons of pieces that have been saved from the landfills due to paint. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder when it comes to painted furniture. Thankful to people like you who can see the beauty, even in a piece like this that was definitely not painted properly, and bring it new life!

I was going to strip yesterday for the first time.....I was so done with my piece. I was a bit nervous. And stopped the job for the day- here I am today and found this.

LMAO the I QUIT part had me dying laughing because right at that moment I was thinking "I would have given up by now". Love your videos!

I have to say not only do I like the new color choice better than the light pink, but I like that there is more contrast between wood and paint colors.

Seriously Sis, you mean business. Just before you ‘quit’ when I saw you start sanding the inside drawer cavity, I exclaimed, Do it Girl! THEN you took off the legs!?! Katie, plus the Mud Puddle really made this piece. It hails back to the 50’s easily now, without screaming it. I was born 1954. Though I don’t really love that era’s furniture, your treatment made it beautiful.

I loved both of your versions! I honestly don't know which I liked better. I have called it quits on paint stripper projects before too. You feel as if you could be there for all eternity.

Katie...I am thrilled that this 2 y.o. video is still available!! I have an almost exact item. It is an amazing Maple Sewing Machine Cabinet; an MCM, 4 drawers, w/large locking cabinet door covering the shelving. The leg system is the same as the dresser here. Good second color choice. The beige-y brown drawers draw out all the natural maple colors.

Paint stripper always makes me nervous even if I wear all my protective stuff! Lol Deff looks like you worked sooooo hard on this piece...lol I do not blame you for not sanding those!! OMG the finish! BEAUTIFUL!!!

I questioned the first paint color, but I trust your judgment and you came through. Contrast is the key. Great 👁 you have. Also the dresser is incredible. I had to start disciplining myself to keep driving when I saw furniture on the curb. Once I quit my daughter started. She’s found some magnificent mid century wood pieces. I had high hopes for you when the top bubbled up so quickly, but... Ugh! Exactly why I try to stay away from previously painted furniture. IT'S SO MUCH WORK! And you'll rarely ever recoup all that time and effort when you sell. Kudos to you for sticking with it!

So true! I completely avoid painted pieces at the thrift store and on marketplace, but if it’s FREE I just can’t help myself 😜

It is turned out beautiful, love it. I think no one should paint good quality wood to completely opaque paint. Now we can feel quality and coziness of natural wood. I think drawers compliment perfectly to do wood.

I really liked both colour versions. Love how you kept the unit natural wood. It worked so nicely with this piece.

I'm glad you changed the pink drawers. I'm a pink lover but the new drawer fronts really pick up the natural variations in the woodgrain. GOOD Choice. You always style your finished pieces so nicely.

I love the dusty purple but I am just a sucker for how beautiful the light wood-tone and the pale pink were together! They would have been perfect with new brass or gold feet and some beautiful long brass or gold drawer pulls!✨ But everything you do is amazing!

I saw the Vilas trade mark and that made me more pleased that you brought the piece back to life. Sadly they went out of business a long time ago now, but I have a living and dining room of Vilas maple and still love it, fifty years after we bought it. It's great to see well made furniture saved and renewed. Good job! 😊 🍁

What a lovely piece of furniture. I am glad you show your mistakes as well. It encourages me when I also make mistakes and have to repaint or redo a piece. That is also why I prefer to work on cheap or free pieces. I like the technique you showed with the sponge, I might try that. Easier to do inside in winter.

wow! that was a lot of hard work but well worth it. I love the fact that you showed all the work so that it is a realistic flip and even that you didn't like it and went to plan B.
