Modeling Discontinuous Fiber Composites with Improved Accuracy

Ғылым және технология

Composite materials, such as discontinuous carbon or glass fiber reinforced polymers, are used across a variety of industries for their superior strength and stiffness to weight ratios. Despite physical advantages composites are underutilized and parts are typically overdesigned because their complex non-linear and anisotropic material behavior along with their sensitivity to manufacturing process conditions makes them difficult to model at the part level. An integrated approach of using Digimat with MSC Nastran offers engineers an efficient way to more accurately model continuous and discontinuous fiber composite parts for stiffness, failure and impact by taking into account the complex mechanical behavior and the effects from the manufacturing process.
This webinar will cover using Digimat + Nastran for modeling discontinuous fiber composites and fiber reinforced plastics. In addition to an in depth technical description about how Digimat works, we will also demonstrate its capabilities for modeling stiffness and failure using case studies from the automotive, aerospace and consumer electronics industries.
