Mod Phil 3: Religion in Modern Europe [Urdu]

Музыка

This lecture examines the role of religion from the Lutheran reformation, through the Calvinist republic in Amsterdam, the Cromwellian and Glorious Revolution, all the way to the French Revolution. It demonstrates how the role of religion (Christianity) changed with the class struggles of Europe.

Chuches are best when empty. I was penniless in Amerca once upon a time and I went to this Cathedral on 1st street in Los Angeles and it was empty but there was an organ being played and there Jesus on the cross and I started crying and crying and then I left and lo and behold I came to a Sikh restaurant that fed me and called a Gujrati Hindu guy who set me up for a job and a place to stay with Jats...All in the same day ❤

Video is actually pics but taken like 30-60 times in a second, when I used to pause the video, to jot it down, It sometimes feels a lot of funny facial expressions. Dr. Taimoor sb, that was an excellent lecture. I have one question; whatever you mentioned in your clip, gave me this impression that the Progress of Europe did not stop due to their religious believes but vested interest of particular religious sect. That group had nothing to do with spirit of religion but the to use religious philosophy to influence the common man & the king. Apparently it seems that due to secular thought EU progressed from Dark Ages of 500 years. But if you look at other civilizations from past including Ancient Egyptians, Romans, Persian, and then later on Muslims, they were all adherent to some religion and they all progressed in their respective era. So would it be fair to make this hypothesis that EU progress is based on sulcular thought only? In case of Muslim downfall, it can not be attributed to Religious thought but to many other factors including Politics, moving away from knowledge base education & research that was part of their earlier history, vast empire with diverse ethnicities that on one side gave cultural diversity that lead to gain diverse knowledge but on the other side gave rise to ethnic divide based on superiority (Iran, Turkey, Arabs, Egyptians all had prestigious history). While looking at the progress EU & USA though it has progressed but on the other side they have sacrificed on account of mental stress. Why the suicide rates and depression is high in those societies despite the fact to having highest per capita income. My argument is that the Progress of EU & USA can not only be attributed to shift in their religious thought, but there were other big variables as well that contributed to their progress. For example, if industrialization had not started at that particular time, had all that progress be possible even their thought process had changed.

Religion will tell you what you supposed to do or not mean what is right move or left. Then further up, at what strength means common interest or social interest vs individual rights so better economics will make you easy going vs hard economics will create lots of trouble and hard punishments where religion plays an important role so people can survive even with starving.
