At the start I was like Grumpy! How can you get Dawn down? But then he flew in the save the day. This was a excellent video with a mixture of entertainment and the presentation of the show.

Dawn what I like about your take on this great hobby is about what motivates not only people in the modelling community but also what makes people gather around the displays! This exhibition shows what our European neighbours have achieved. The layouts on show where of an exceptional standard and bought to life by Mr G's talent behind a camera. Yep he's grumpy, so what! Not only narrating but also interviewing different modellers has now become your raison d'etre. Keep up the good work. You have to wonder how many modellers have been encouraged to take the next step seeing what others have achieved.

Thanks Chris - as you know, we try to keep everything in perspective, be informative and have fun along the way. I agree - the standard of layouts was exceptionally high, and there was Erwin being very modest! I hope showing everyone's incredible creativity and hard work goes some way to inspiring people to either take up the hobby or revisit it and dust off those locos that have been hiding in the attic! Have a lovely weekend.

Hi Dawn, How are you doing? I enjoyed watching your video on the MOB expo show in Belgium. As you might remember, we had a small conversation on the show and shared hobby in general, and “32 shades of gray” specificaly saturday afternoon. Well, my brain indeed thought I turned colorblind, yet what a refreshing concept you made when depicting from an old film that led to creating this wonderfull layout. I was so focused on our conversation, that I forgot to take photographs of your layout, which was a pity in hindsight. I like your sense of humor and that of Grumpy. Keep up the good work introducing new people to our great hobby. Best regards, Dennis P.S. I would love to see more UK lay-outs on European Shows. Brilliant report as always Dawn. I don’t agree with Erwin though - the standard of modelling I saw through you lens was in my opinion higher than a lot of what I have seen locally. And way higher than mine! 🥴 Fabulous layouts.

Honestly, what a great video: Quest Gold! Despite "creative differences" with Pierre, and having to deal with fisty-cuffs between the world's most surly cameramen, you still managed to stamp your unique style on the film. Loved the wine train, the working habour crane & chicory farm(!). Very glad to hear Brief Encounter was well received. The layouts seem to be somehow more colourful & vibrant than many we see here in the UK. Perhaps our obsession with industrial scenes is to blame?

Great review of Mobexpo 24. Was good to meet you there! I still don't really know why the hobby club movement is thriving here in Belgium and shrinking in the UK. The demographic here is younger so there is more energy for modelling clubs, but why is the demographic different? Flanders and the Southern part of the Netherlands are very affluent, similar to South East England, but propery costs are more reasonable, so perhaps there is more disposable income available to be spent on hobbies here? Also I get the impression houses are larger in Belgium than the UK. Best wishes, Ben from Belgium.

An Australia tour would be fantastic!

Really, really enjoyed the report upon the Mobexpo 24, light hearted amusing and very impressive as too the venue along with their impressive club house. However, to me, as appreciated from your coverage they are (to me) in a different mind-set on the continent (have been to several models shows in Germany,) as in making the event a sort of celebration, rather than just a `Show`. I have always found continental organisers of events, and members too just want to enjoy and promote their chosen hobby. As in attending many times a Zinnfiguren Börse for both round and flat figures held in the small Bavarian town of Kulmbach many years ago, coming away always refreshed and invigorated as to `their` show and enthusiasm for their hobby. But find in the UK a reluctance to express (pardon the pun) or be at ease with the visiting public or fellow modeller. Maybe its just me, that`s odd as I have always felt Railway modellers for a long, long time have (pardon the pun again) tunnel vision as to just what’s `out there` in the modelling world. Finely, thank you anyway as I see the `Cross` has become more of a burden than one deserves. But its all-in fun hey, as that`s what`s it's all about in the end. Take care. PS, that `Hat` really, really suits you.😏
