Al DeMeo was one of the nicest guys that I ever met at Massapequa HS where we both graduated together in 1984. I read his book and was in shock when I learned what his life was like after we hung out. So sad. He was tortured by this life of his fathers.

I’ve read that Gambino was always nice and polite to people. You look at the familiar picture of him when he was up in age and think to yourself that he looks like a nice grandfather. Then think about how he became boss of the family named after him. Still I’d rather have had Mr. Gambino as my neighbor than a lot of other people out there.

About Roy DeMeo and his family. Pretty much all the DeMeo's except Roy were, and are, respectable people. His uncle was a very well known and nationally respected law professor. I always assumed there was some remote connection between the two at best when I first heard of Roy, but I was shocked to learn of their close relationship. However, Roy was quite different and lived a far different life than his relatives. His own wife was for long completely unaware of what he really did. She thought he was a successful entrepreneurial businessman, which was the role he played to the outside world.

Ends up she was a professional baker who owned a bakery in the area ,she was retired now and baked for her neighbors . They were a nice family originally from s italy, I had visited italy in the 1990's and I actually went to her home town there in puglia . .Nice neighborhood ,Great people there

They drove there propably every time with a new car also. That was 40y ago. Roy has been in ground for 37y and twins have been locked up for 31y.
