Detroit haven’t been the Murder Capital since 2006 and that was because Katrina emptied New Orleans out for like a year, and before that the last time Detroit had the title was 1987. NOLA been the Murder cap 2021-present, which is like the 15th time since 1992. New Orleans not only took the title back in 2007, but we recorded the highest murder rate ever recorded in the United States that year, and no city to this day has surpassed it. I definitely aint bragging, just stating historical facts.

Chicago has never been number for the same reason why LA and New York were never number 1 at their worst it's too big of a city. They calculate per capita or per 100k residents. New Orleans has a population of 300k people with an average yearly murder of 200-250. Chicago has a population of 3 million with about 600-800 murders a year. The only city that New Orleans truly fights back and forth for that number 1 spot is St. Louis. Which has a similar size of the NO and a similar murder yearly rate.
