Mobb Deep, the legendary Hip-Hop duo from Queensbridge, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their iconic sophomore album “The Infamous” this year by releasing “The Infamous - 25th Anniversary Expanded Edition” which includes bonus tracks "Shook One, Part I" (Original Version) and Infamous Sessions Mixes of "The Money (Version 2)" and "Lifestyles Of The Infamous," now available digitally for the first time.
About The Infamous:
Originally released April 25, 1995 through RCA/Loud Records, The Infamous, Mobb Deep's second studio album, signified an important new sound and direction for East Coast hip-hop. Featuring contributions from illuminary guest artists including Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, and Q-Tip, The Infamous marked Havoc and Prodigy's evolution from Queensbridge underground phenomenon to one of the most influential and successful duos in hip-hop, selling more than three million records. An immediate urban/pop crossover success, The Infamous entered the Billboard 200 at #15 and the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart at #3 the week of its release. The album generated four hit singles--"Shook Ones Pt. II," "Survival of the Fittest," "Temperature's Rising" and "Give Up the Goods (Just Step)"--and was certified RIAA gold in June 1995.

Lyrics:
Ayo, it's Hell on Earth
Whose necks are gonna be first?
The projects is front line
And the enemy is one time
I ain't gotta tell you
It's right in front of your eyes
Ayo, it's Hell on Earth
Whose necks are gonna be first?
The projects is front line
And the enemy is one time
I ain't gotta tell you
Yo, it's right in front of your eyes

This came out back when you had to sit next to your radio with your trigger finger on record because everybody was waiting for this to play on the radio again the next night. The first time they played it it was no announcement, it just came on, it was like 11-12 at night Hot 97. The streets went crazy because everybody was like "wtf is this"? Then Prodigy said the first line and everybody went crazy because everyone already heard Mobb Deep first album by then so hearing Prodigy on this dope new beat meant the next Mobb Deep album was coming..... What a time to be alive! 💯

Almost 2024, and this joint still hits hard. It's on my gym playlist, and when I pump it, it makes me run longer, train harder, and feel stronger. This duo was and will always go down as one of the greatest to do it. They captured the essence of the New York City streets.
This level of talent for producing should be illegal. This beat is absolutely timeless. I can wake up 200 years in the future and jam to this.

Mobb Deep music is still relevant to this day
In '96 I was 14 years old, and Mobb Deep was my favorite rap group; even over the fkn WU! I would call into our local University radio station- The University of Scranton's WUSR Radio on Sat. nights, and ask DJ Rock-On to spin Mobb Deep like clockwork- every Saturday night. Sittin' there with the casette in the boombox, with scotch tape over the notches- tryinna hit that *REC* button with the quickness to catch the whole song. Now, I am 40, and STILL bumpin' Mobb Deep. Powerful and ill rhymes over super dope tracks. Blood floods ya eye, fk ya optics!

Come on now, geto boys, 2 live crew, fuggin TUPAC I could go on and on… JAZZY BELLE son! Errybody featured big booty bitches in their videos in the 90s. Mobb Deep was an outlier in that they were too cold to have the freak show out front and center. That’s why I loved him. They went against and were true artists. “Keeping these rap fans like crack fiends Until we reup And put more Infamous upon the rap scene” Love it
