    @@michaelfranzese Michael , so some actor ,who I like says, Mob murders and Military are both murderers. I was in Vietnam saw a lot of action, made great lifelong friends , those who didn't die over there. I volunteered and was there for 16 mos. before getting wounded and sent home. I was like you raised Catholic , not very religious now , but I believe in God. It didn't bother me to kill the enemy cause they were going to kill me. I had the usual nightmares that come with being in a War but I am fine for years now. I worked construction my whole life raised a Family on the West Side and know a lot of people you mention. I live in Boston w/my son now after my Wife passed a few years ago. I know you won't answer this but am I a murderer ? You know the Bible or am I a Righteous man who killed for the right reason? Again I just thought I'd ask even though I am almost positive you won't answer.

    I think that really is what it all is. The back and forth, shade coming from one side towards the other then back again....hints and rumors. These two guys are both real smart, and good at building hype. I think they will drag it out, even if they agree, until the fans are literally begging for the sit down, because that is what good businessmen would do. And both Michael and Sammy are great business men, and have both embraced showmanship and hype-building. Like the movie Rocky, where Apollo Creed was shown to be en even better businessman than a boxer, and he was a great boxer and champion at the time, and put together his fight with the underdog nobody in Rocky Balboa , to generate interest and make sure the fans were rabid with anticipation. Michael and Sammy are almost certainly doing the same thing, and I would not be surprised if they throw more and more shade at one another once they both know they're gonna sit down, simply because that is how you build hype. Just like how boxers or MMA fighters throw shade and degrade one another to build hype.

    The mob rising off prohibition is similar to how to cartel got powerful from the drug war and restrictions.

  • @evilcam

    @evilcam

    3 жыл бұрын

    Yes, it's the same template, and I honestly don't think it was a mistake in either case. The feds wanted to make booze then drugs illegal, knowing that does not stop the problem, but gives criminals a huge financial incentive to get involved, so the feds could justify all the money, manpower and new tools and laws they wanted to implement. The demand for things like a massive FBI ATF and IRS spending spree. New surveillance laws and tools that allow them to spy on anyone and everyone they want to spy on, for pretty much any reason. Massive spending on prisons and jails and planes and buses to transport all these newly arrested criminals. The mob and cartels were just the criminals that happened to move into the opening the feds created for them. The feds made a hundred times more money (or more accurately, allocated funds from tax collections) off prohibition and the drug war, than the mob or cartels ever did. I think, it was all by design.

    You're right about Vincent "Chin" Gigante. He was on a whole' nother wave length entirely! I wish there was more info on him because "The Chin" is easily the most fascinating mob boss of the late 20th century. What's so crazy about Gigante is the FBI and New York's various state authorities had mostly written him off as a cooky, incompetent old man the Genovese let come around out of respect alone. They were convinced as well that he was just an unimportant, senile old timer the same way the media and public believed. The irony is that it was actually their years long, convict-him-at-all-costs investigations and surveillance operations into John Gotti that changed their minds on Gigante. The FBI were initially puzzled as to why John Gotti- purportedly the most powerful mob boss in America -was so terrified of provoking Chin Gigante's wrath after the Castellano hit. The more convictions Gotti beat, and the larger his celebrity profile grew, the louder and more boastful he became. Although careless remarks made by Gotti and being recorded on FBI surveillance bugs weren't enough for them to haul Gigante downtown for any questions just yet, Gotti gradually talked enough about Chin to prompt the FBI revisit their original assessment of Vincent Gigante and the Genovese family. With the wheels already starting to turn on Gigante perhaps being the true boss, Fat Tony Salerno's- the alleged boss of the Genovese family -unimpressive behavior and demeanor throughout the Commission trial only added more fuel to the fire. How so? There's no delicate way to put this, so I'll just come out and say it- Fat Tony Salerno was a bumbling, even downright comical at times, bafoon. Nothing about this guy suggested Mafia don. As they looked further into the Genovese, the FBI began to realize everything surrounding Fat Tony was a staged production to fool the public. He was like Junior in The Sopranos, or the Mandarin in Iron Man 3. He had no idea he was put in the position he occupied to be the lightning rod. Who knows how much longer "Chin" Gigante could've continued getting away with it had only John Gotti kept his mouth shut?
