The sheriff (Bob Fletcher) does a youtube called "Live on Patrol" where they video his patrolling. Mostly boring routine stuff but he talks about things, talks to people with the odd car chase or call also caught on camera. He stopped by a group of teens and asked them about a recent stolen Kia. The one young gal (14?) said "Yeah - we heard who it was, but it isn't going to change anything if you catch him." Bob says "So what do you think we should do?" The girl says "You arrest them and they are out the next day, that doesn't do anything. Its just a game. You need to put them away for a long time." As they are driving away Bob said something like "Out of the mouth of babes. She's smarter than some of the politicians we have!"

They don't have to violate their civil rights to properly charge the crimes alleged and at 17 they can charge them as adults and put them away for some serious time. If they had been properly charged and convicted of the previous crimes, many would still be in jail and those that are out would be going away for serious time.

Bet they won't afford those air bnbs anymore.
