Bodycam: Utah Man Killed in Wild Shootout After Allegedly Shooting Police Officer
Ойын-сауық
In a tragic incident captured on shocking bodycam footage, a Utah man was killed in a police shootout on June 6th after allegedly opening fire on officers. According to the Ogden Police Department, 36-year-old Brian Simonton began firing at law enforcement who responded to a 911 call from his ex-wife claiming he was violating a protective order against her. The intense exchange of gunfire left one officer wounded before Simonton was fatally shot by police.

@mikimiyazaki
11 ай бұрын
Of course its "his fault" but as to whether she should take any blame. Thats a little more complicated. At best her choices lacked a pragmatic approach and common sense due to dispatch asking "will he cooperate with officers" she said "uhhhh im scared how this is going to turn out". She knew he was likely armed, and she knew hed likely shoot it out with the cops when they got there. If its true (and shes the one who said it) that all she had to do to de escalate and potentially resolve the situation was to take the dog. Then she could call ASPCA or whatever later. Point being, she didn't do anything that wasnt within her rights, but not being able to think pragmatically or with common sense, being that simply accepting the dog wouldve diffused the entire situation and she chose to instead say no and call the cops. As its been established she consciously knew the likely outcome of bloodshed and mayhem. Its hard for me to agree that given she had the power to prevent what she knew was likely going to happen. She knows that, and she will now have to live with the guilt shes definitely going to feel and i in the spirit of honesty wouldnt attempt to convince her otherwise.
Why do none of these officers have a patrol rifle to minimize how many bullets are flying. Two in his chest with an AR vs stitching up an apartment complex.
Law enforcement officers you did a great job in my prayers

We’ll just because someone is shot doesn’t mean you can’t move. The officers are telling him that so that he doesn’t get shot anymore. Tension is high, stress is through the roof, adrenaline is off the charts, anger and rage is flowing throughout the body because someone tried to kill you and If you make a move it’s likely you will be shot. Especially if you move towards a weapon on the ground. Also just because the suspect has a gun doesn’t mean he only has one. Many cops have been shot by a second gun they didn’t see. He makes any move except his hands out and away from his body and any weapons will be considered an assertive move and will be dealt with as a threat.

they know what they are doing, how else are you suppose to defend off an armed person who is literally firing rounds at you? they basically did the only logical thing to try and stop him. Police officers are trained professionally and know their way around a firearm. Its also really hard to concentrate on the target when you are getting fired at aswell. She sux, she fired off a few rounds and can't even hit the target. Putting everyone in danger.
1) Kudos to the 911 callers and operators and all the officers. 2) It's odd and unfortunate that none of the officers had a rifle with a red dot or LPVO to enable them to neutralize him from diatance with less risk to them.

Was thinking the same. They missed multiple shots that would have been a walk in the park with a rifle. One of the officers missed at least 5 shots at a 40-50 yard distance. Not safe for anyone in the vicinity

@@GAme4life916while I agree, I say kudos to the Ogden police force for not providing ARs to standard field officers. In all but the most dangerous cities, only the SWAT need anything more than a 15 round pistol. These officers did all have slide mounted optics which is above and beyond what most officers have. 5 inch slide with optic is good to 50 yards in a stressful situation, 100 yards when calm.

@@glsracer Rifle will ALWAYS be an easy shot. I, respectfully, have to disagree vehemently with your opinion. pretty much ALL cases with an active shooter the local Police officers NEED a rifle. You think it takes awhile for local pd to show up, bet it takes longer for the swat guys to run to their locker rooms, get geared up, and out the door to head to you. Before theyr even finished gettin their gear on, a local officer could’ve taken him out with their own standard issued rifle
I live in Utah about 30 miles south of this and it’s actually scary. They had to call 911 times. Ogden has the reputation of being one of the most crime field cities in the valley and it’s scary to know as much as I have to go work up there that if something goes wrong, it might be an hour before help comes.
I kinda love the 'step it up'... I don't know why but it exudes affirmative leadership. Clear, consistent, and concise directives. Well done.
