Bodycam: Utah Man Killed in Wild Shootout After Allegedly Shooting Police Officer

Ойын-сауық

In a tragic incident captured on shocking bodycam footage, a Utah man was killed in a police shootout on June 6th after allegedly opening fire on officers. According to the Ogden Police Department, 36-year-old Brian Simonton began firing at law enforcement who responded to a 911 call from his ex-wife claiming he was violating a protective order against her. The intense exchange of gunfire left one officer wounded before Simonton was fatally shot by police.

Of course its "his fault" but as to whether she should take any blame. Thats a little more complicated. At best her choices lacked a pragmatic approach and common sense due to dispatch asking "will he cooperate with officers" she said "uhhhh im scared how this is going to turn out". She knew he was likely armed, and she knew hed likely shoot it out with the cops when they got there. If its true (and shes the one who said it) that all she had to do to de escalate and potentially resolve the situation was to take the dog. Then she could call ASPCA or whatever later. Point being, she didn't do anything that wasnt within her rights, but not being able to think pragmatically or with common sense, being that simply accepting the dog wouldve diffused the entire situation and she chose to instead say no and call the cops. As its been established she consciously knew the likely outcome of bloodshed and mayhem. Its hard for me to agree that given she had the power to prevent what she knew was likely going to happen. She knows that, and she will now have to live with the guilt shes definitely going to feel and i in the spirit of honesty wouldnt attempt to convince her otherwise.

We’ll just because someone is shot doesn’t mean you can’t move. The officers are telling him that so that he doesn’t get shot anymore. Tension is high, stress is through the roof, adrenaline is off the charts, anger and rage is flowing throughout the body because someone tried to kill you and If you make a move it’s likely you will be shot. Especially if you move towards a weapon on the ground. Also just because the suspect has a gun doesn’t mean he only has one. Many cops have been shot by a second gun they didn’t see. He makes any move except his hands out and away from his body and any weapons will be considered an assertive move and will be dealt with as a threat.

I would NOT thank these officers. They literally started a war in civilian neighborhood trying to catch one single not trained guy with the gun. Just try to count how many shots those officers fired with no damage to the suspect before they finally get that guy shot down. It's unbelievable! As a civilian I whish to see professionals who well trained and know what they're doing and not starting shootout on the streets with a million shots fired. I appreciate their sacrifice but as I said that would be better if they would be trained well.

they know what they are doing, how else are you suppose to defend off an armed person who is literally firing rounds at you? they basically did the only logical thing to try and stop him. Police officers are trained professionally and know their way around a firearm. Its also really hard to concentrate on the target when you are getting fired at aswell. The average M1911 also isnt good for medium ranges and its accuracy is harder to predict at further ranges, so them managing to take the criminal down is very impressive.@@andersspiegel1216

Instead of pistols they should use a scoped rifle and hit their target easier.

God bless all the officers and their families! Such terrible trauma! Thank you for your bravery and your service! My uncle was an NYPD officer from 1948 until his retirement in the mid 1960’s.
