For those who are curious as to why the infected are thirsty all the time is because the roots are draining the water from the infected pony’s body.

Well most of the parts, like half of the are Ocs from other people with profile that don't really matter to anyone I know it was cute from the artist to add them but it's not like they do something important for the story

basic-overall reason all of this: *DISCORD THOUGHT IT WOULD HELP BUT HE FORGOR HE THE GOD OF CHAOS* he thought it would speed up the healing process for the mouse but it just sped up the cordycep-spores and made it a ✨magical-disease✨ (its honestly terrifying ngl T - T also is dat spike? nO WAIT IT THE CAT IT GOT OUT AND *GOT INFECTED OH NOO--* 50:16)

Man, this is delicious. I love how much effort is in this, from the gorgeous art to the well-executed scares all the way to how the disease’s virulence is reflected in it crossing species and dimensional barriers.

Bro I love this AU! My theory for how Discord started the infection is: The infection probably only started with bugs and maybe the mouse we see Fluttershy help ate or was hurt by an infected bug. I get the feeling it would've died on its own without any help but since Fluttershy took it in, the mouse didn't die right away. After seeing the medicine not work, the infection could've been preventing the mouse's body from intaking the medicine, she asked Discord to help speed the process along. I theorize that when Discord poked the mouse to help give it a boost, using his chaos magic, the infection most likely reacted with the strange chaos magic and instead of helping the mouse Discord could've mutated the infection to not only be HIGHLY adaptable but also contagious to now every species. This could be why we only now see the infection getting to ponies and other species instead of just bugs. After Discord poked the mouse it's clear we see it run off as a possible flight response before succumbing to the infection. From there we see it spread the possibly newly mutated infection to other new hosts that then continue to spread it further. This could also explain why Discord seemed to be able to 'control' or 'hold back' Fluttershy's infection as he realized what his magic did and so he probably used more magic to hold the infection back from her or he could've sapped the magic out of the infection from Fluttershy to keep it from fully spreading! Overall I love this AU and I really hope to see more! ❤

The reason why they are thirsty is because when they are infected or soon to be infected.They puke up all of the liquids and food and before then they ate drink etc.And they If they didn't and they tried to before their infected but unknown they will end up puking the substance out.Hope that helped l o l

YES MRSGENDERED ITS SO GOOD! IM SO EXCITED! THANK YOU JAYSTER!!!! When i started this AU it took a couple hours to get all the way through it(i may just be slow tho)! Noting earlier in the video, the blooms are like the little mice and bunnies that are like stage 4 and further of infected, like the example of twi getting infected! If i recall it doesnt tell exactly what the blooms are(dont quote me on this, ive a short memory so i may be wrong :p) but thats what i ended up figuring 1:11:40 that area, discord didnt cause it, he was trying to help fluttershy heal the thing, since she didnt know what was causing it, and didnt know what was wrong with it

And also I may point out is in one of the parts.It did say that they puke up the substance that the pony has drink.Because that's why they say i'm thirsty Also love your vids❤

Not quite all the way through the video yet, but. You kept asking why they get thirsty- I believe it’s just a symptom of the disease. As mentioned in the very beginning, the body starts to reject all fluids, but still wants them. Basically: The body is dehydrated, and wants water, yet rejects every kind of water put into it. Why does the disease do this? I’m not entirely sure (at this point into the vid, about halfway through)- I think it could be a way for the infection to spread, maybe. Water might be able to transport the disease, or, water could just be something that commonly has critters congregate around. More things for the disease to spread into. Or, the dehydration could just be an unhappy accident of the disease’s progression in the body, and not be related to the spread at all.

See, I wondered the same thing. If they're thirsty why are they rejecting everything? The body shouldn't be able to support its self otherwise, but that's me digging too deep! I figure it has to do with them becoming half tree pony hybrids and so they need to hydrate the tree so it can grow or something. WHO KNOWS! Good theory.

I really like this theory and I could see it working as it is possible the infection is simply rejecting water or fluids of any sort. An example of this is Rabies as it is a real disease that makes the host fear and essentially reject fluids. It could also be that they may be heavily thirsty as the branches/tree growing out of the host could be sapping any fluids the body already has in order to sustain itself. This could be why the infected run around looking thin and begging for water. This won't really explain why the body rejects fluids but eh- Anyways I really enjoy this theory, good job analyzing :D

I loved the more medieval art style and it's disease so far hasn't killed any ponies, I think I'll see them stay alive even with the fungus growing inside them and of course they're still Aware but they don't realize where they are and what's happening? And what the hell they're always thirsty like I know they can't drink any liquids but the fungus doesn't need water In order to survive, the virus is also highly contagious and undergoes mutations, managing to infect other species such as griffins and mermaids, among others, and I find it interesting that the virus does not Taking complete control away from the host like they are still seeking help, but what does night and day have to do with the behavior of the infected and worse will this series end? Or will it be incomplete?

@@Jaynipotence Awesome to hear!! genuinely had forgotten to add videos to the playlist as I went, (fixed it), there’s currently 167 parts and a 12 minute narrated story! The AU is written out of order so it’s no biggie whichever end you start with. I laughed at the “WHY ARE THEY THIRSTY??” it’s just cause the blooms are sucking them dry and they lack the ability to bring that hydration back in any meaningful way. Thank you for featuring my story in a video, It was great getting to see someone get into it and look through everything with fresh eyes.
