It was all in good fun and it was a pretty nice snatch. Yeah, it is annoying but the kid was probably rooting for the other team and felt good about taking it away lol. Annoying, but it was still called an out.

I once went to a NHL game with my 16 year old cousin in my hometown of Montreal and my cousin scrambled with fans for a puck that went in the stairs next to him, he got the puck and got scolded by an adult fan saying he was gonna give to a kid. My cousin got that puck fair and square, he also gave the perfect answer to the guy, he said: "Well, I'm a kid of my own, so you did good". I will always remember that.

@@lordBritish1 Absolutely incorrect. The rules state that fans can’t interfere with a ball in play, ie, over the guard rail. Once the ball crosses the invisible line into fan territory, it’s every man for himself. It’s a sort of home field advantage, since savvy home fans won’t interfere with their own team’s players (though that happens, too).

He had all rights to catch that ball, it was in the fan territory. The player was actually the one who was leaning into the other “territory” (dramatic word, but it gets the point across).

Technically if the ball is over the stands, it’s fair game for the fans and player. However, fans can’t reach over the stands to interfere. The Twins-Yankees catch was legal. Dodgers and Cubs wasn’t

So I’m gonna be honest and mostly kept this a secret for more than a decade. When I was about 25, I went to a mariners game in Seattle and decided I’d walk straight from the gate to the left field bar. A buddy of mine met up with me about the 2nd inning. After about eight $9 beers, and during what I think I was the 7th inning (don’t know because I don’t remember a single inning), the beach ball came out, bounced around a little and was directly over my head... I proceeded with all of my god given might to blast that ball straight into left field. The game stopped, the left fielder popped the ball, and security was all over. I was called every name in the book. A douche, a drunk asshole, etc. But you know what, not one single person ratted me out. Not one person helped security find the guy that did it. Idk, I think that was actually more punishment, because to this day, I’ve thought what a douchey move that was. At least one hundred eyes pointed straight at me. Moral of the story: don’t drink $9 beers...

The ump ejecting the player made me laugh because it looked like he was going after Pagan in the on deck circle. Im sure Pagan was saying "what did I do?", he was never one to let an umpire know his displeasure in strike zones so I'm sure he thought the ump was coming at him. Went to a dodgers game few days ago and the 6 rows across from is were fill of college kids (we think). Sll game long they pretty played musical chairs, stood up on the aisles, played music loud on their phones and blocked our view of the game. We had to ask them multiple time to please sit down so we can pay attention to the game. They took all the fun out of the day.

That was 100% ok. Never interfered with the space of the field, the player tried to make a catch reaching into the stands. Every defensive player should know this is a very possible outcome for a pop foul ball going into fan territory and out of the field of play when they are the away team. A home team defensive player maybe should expect smarter fans

I don't think you can hear it in this clip, but that has been in so many of these "worst fans" "worst stadiums" videos. 1:14 That reminds me of one time where I was like 9 and me and my dad went to a local minor league game. One of the guys popped a ball up, it went right between my legs, and under my seat. I looked under it, and all I saw was a hand grab it and a guy walk away with it. I was bummed, but just forgot about it after the next pitch. Apparently a few of the fans around the guy starting guilt tripping the guy, and told his 4-ish year old son to go over to me and give it to me. I felt kind of bad taking it, because that kid looked kinda sad. But then, one of the guys in the dugout comes into the stands, shakes the kid's hand, and gives him a ball with all the team's signatures on it. Turns out he was the team manager, and he came over to me and shook my hand. He gave me and my dad free tickets for the next game we went to. I still have that ball in my closet today.

Yeah a really good story

At 4:10 the tarp is considered out of the field of play, so even though the fan took the ball away from Gonzalez, it was not ruled an out. The fan was not ejected either.

Only a couple of these even approach "bad". Most are either debatable or amusing.

When granderson was on the Yankees he was one of the nicest guys to play and he literally signed for just about everyone and had convos with everyone. That fan that touched him had no business doing that

Yeah the kid was right in the path of the ball, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he would’ve caught it. Dude may a grab and snagged it out of the air. Good catch. Then turned and gave it to a kid even small then the other kid. Really nice of him to do that after making that barehanded catch.

Reminds me of how I got my baseball at an Astros game when I was a kid. My amazing father decided to leave his 7-year-old alone while he got hotdogs I got nervous by myself and went looking for him and got nailed in the side of the face by a foul ball. some guy nearby saw what happened helped me up and gave me the ball. Good times.

Here in Australia when fans can get life bans if they do something wrong

Every time I see one of these, I can't help but wonder: Why aren't stadiums constructed with a built in buffer zone so that fans can't interfere with balls in play? Say, leave five feet between the front row of seats and the wall. Also, make it a rule that if a fan interferes, it's an automatic ejection.
