Спорт

These guys seem to have forgotten the fundamentals. Stepping on the base would be in chapter one of baseball 101! #Fail #Baseball #Bloopers

I don't understand the Kris Davis one. When a home run is hit, the batter has to go around the bases. But unless there's a time limit on how long the runner has to do this, then couldn't Davis have simply went back out and touched home. Even 5 minutes later.

I remember reading about Casey Stengal when he managed the Mets in their inaugural season, and they were terrible. A player hit a triple, the other team appealed, saying he'd not touched first. He was called out and he came out to argue. The second base umpire came over and said he didn't touch second, either. Stengal said, "Well, I know he had to touch third, cause he's standing on it!"

The first one with Hanley Ramirez is heads up play by Hanley, but ABSOLUTELY AWFUL umpiring by the first base umpire. He had no clue what was going on and wasnt looking at what he should have been looking at and was out of position. As an umpire thats just disheartening to see. You can add Ryan Howard at home plate in the 2009 World Series (can't remember which game, but in Philly)... ump called it correctly. That is, no call at all (no safe sign), until Posada throws the ball to 2nd base to try to get another runner. At that point, the Yankees can't appeal any more, so the run counts... then the ump waves safe.

C'mon cameraman/producer for that Dodgers game. The players are already pointing towards third base, so we have an idea something is going on. They put the camera on the fielder jogging, the baserunner, the manager Torre/dugout pointing to third, and finally the pitcher. BUT NOT ON 3RD BASE SO WE CAN SEE THE UMPIRES DECISION WHEN IT HAPPENS!!! Not till after the crowd errupts do the show us, the people who know baseball and are already anticipating what the umpire is going to call, third base. Reminds me when you're watching a football game and you see 2 guys going at it at the end of the play. You hear the whisyles blowing and the camera goes to a player jogging off the field and then a close up of the coach. Meanwhile I'm pulling my hair out saying Show them fighting! Takes them forever to get what people want to see. Makes me wonder how much the producers know about the games.

Brewers one was a definitive out, and the last one you can literally see the powder come up as his toe drags across the bag. Not sure if they were before or after replay was instituted, so that's excusable, but at least the last clip shouldnt be included here.

I know the ump isn't supposed to call out until the defense challenges it, but is he supposed to call safe or just no call until they do?

Depending on the situation. At home plate you make no call, if its avoiding a tag you call safe if the tag missed untill they tag him and with missing a baseinbetween you make no call untill an appeal has been made. This might not be entirely correct but this is what i think it is

  • @alanhess9306

Greasyspleen, When a runner beats the throw at first base, but misses the bag, the umpire should signal safe. If the defense tags the runner or steps on the base and appeals the missed base, he would then call him out.
