Interference is something I just can't grasp. The runner is required to stay on a direct path between the bases, within certain limits of momentum - humans can't make right angle turns. But the firkder can be right on that line to catch an infield fly. If the runner hits the fielder, its interference but the fielder is interfering with the runner by being on the base path.
