If the Umpires' Union would kindly f off and let MLB fire this clown. Maybe things can improve somewhat.

I was at the game where Angel ejected Harper. I could see from the upper deck he that he checked his swing. At least a little Phillies fan got Harper's helmet.

Honestly Cliff Lee was probably pretty smart there, why risk getting injured running to first on a groundout when your main job is to just pitch

@@peacefulwarrior9518Cliff Lee was a Brilliant Pitcher...and had injury issues in multiple seasons before this. If I was the manager, I'd tell him not even to swing at the plate. Dude was DOMINANT on the mound for half a decade before that At Bat. Not just Ace Pitcher, but legitimate game changing Pitcher.

@@tylerjames819Baseball players get injured quite often running the bases. Kendry Morales found a way to Break His Leg celebrating a Grand Slam just by jumping on Home Plate. That injury effectively ended his career as he went from Rising Star to Complete Bum after the injury.

Where's Carlos Zambrano from the game between the Cubs and the Braves back in 2011? That's when Zambrano got himself ejected after throwing 2 brushback pitches at Chipper Jones after giving up 5 home runs (8 runs total). After the ejection, Zambrano cleaned out his locker and told clubhouse personnel about retirement from the game (ended up on the DQ'd list and the Cubs eventually jettisoned him to the Marlins in 2012, which would be Zambrano's final year in MLB level competition).

  • @Heathcoatman

No. unfortunately. The contract the league has with the ump union gives all of the power to the union. MLB cant do anything to Angel....they've tried. When it's time to renew the contract the MLB needs to make some changes and if the union says no, lock them out. Replacement umps cannot be worse than Angel. MLB MUST break the stranglehold the ump union has, guys like Angel are hurting the product.

Angel Hernandez isn't signed or hired because he wants to its because mlb restricted and banned Cuban players and umpires to be in mlb and mlb won't allow Cuban players and umpires to be in mlb without a contract and a letter from Cuban president or authority to let them know they can play baseball in mlb

You do know that one has to defect from Cuba to play in the MLB? Cuba wants its players only playing for Cuba and no one else. There are currently 23 Cubans playing in the MLB which is more than those from Puerto Rico, a Commonwealth of the United States, Mexico, Canada (where they have an MLB team), Japan, etc., Dominican Republic and Venezuela top all foreign countries playing in the MLB, Cuba ranks 4th. That not high enough for you?
