worst park of being a 1st baseman is that you get no credit for making good pics. It's nice to see first basemen get credit.
Gotta have Freddie Freeman in these vids, he's one of the best at saving errors

There should be more of Choi ngl. He saved his infield so much

when you're in the heat of the moment it becomes easier than you'd think. i've done stuff as a first baseman i never thought id be able to do ever.

I bet these guys have done it everyday for years, which is why they stayed flexible. I used to have to drop into the splits as a 1st baseman. But soon after my playing days were over, I quickly lost my ability to do the splits.

@@legochickenguy4938 you stretch a lot too right? Probably helps.
Some of these hurt my inner legs, those stretches are crazy
So much respect for Mark Teixeira. Always seemed like he had a good attitude and was dedicated to the craft.
Nothing I love more than watching elite athleticism on display
The tough thing about playing first is that you’re almost always moving away from where the ball is it hit instead of toward it, it’s unnatural. I grew up playing SS and always had to think “no, you gotta get back to the bag” if I was needed at 1b.

Worst thing is if you mis their bad throw! It's the first baseman fault 😮!
From a former college 1st baseman, I appreciate this
Incredible calls.
J-man Choi is the best at this followed by rizzo my opinion
Fun video!
Texiera on make the list once? He was really good. Also no Freddie freeman?
amazing 😮
Where was rizzo or did i miss him, cause his had some pretty big saves of ofline throws to first.
From then U.K ,I've been watching alot of B'B vids in LD* (never will play). But I start to think I'm understanding the rules. Then watch another and get confused. Can batter get out, running to 1st even if 1st basemens foot comes off the plate (when catching)? Also with all the tech in other sports these days? do the plates have impact sensors for umpires calls that are wrong, or would be re-inventing the wheel?
@sokker03

To add to Ryker’s explanation, if the 1st baseman catches the ball while touching the bag at any point before the runner gets there the runner is out. So as long as the first baseman has touched the bag while also having the ball before the runner gets there, he’s out even if the first baseman steps off. Hope that helped, if it made it worse totally just disregard!
So which one of these won gold glove?
These plays show you why it's always smart to put a TALL GUY at 1st base......
Us middle infielders love y’all 🥰

I watch so much youth and college baseball that when you see this... and you see the umpires... it's a whole freaking level... no... it's miles higher in talent. Freakishly high talent. Never realized how good mlb players actually are until i spent most my time at lower levels. They are awesome. Except piazza as a defensive catcher. Most high school guys were better, but that dude could hit. They should've made him a first baseman and got a real catcher.
@notsauer

I guess it depends on how much you value defense. Having a .362 average with 40 bombs out of the catcher spot, and being able to have another bopper at 1st, might bring more value than having a liability at C with really good defense a la Jeff Mathis

Idk how these MLB infielders are so dang good at their jobs but NFL receivers drop stuff that any high schooler can catch. Like yea MLB players make bad errors every once in a while but it’s honestly extremely rare and even then it’s when the ball is moving 95 mph and bouncing like jeez
Doug Mientkiewicz was the best first baseman.
why isnt brandon belt here?
who else is here because they are a first baseman
